Here's a video of BMW's new 8 Series concept. Looks like an F-Type with an uglier grill and butt...

Everyone wants to copy the most beautiful sport car (or one of the most beautiful) in the world.

It's not just you. I've noticed similarities in the F-Type's over-fender haunches and the "swoosh-like" wrap-around of the LED taillights.

I stopped by a Lexus dealer last Saturday to check out the LC 500. When I opened its door, I felt like I had just opened the door to my Jag, what with the similarity in curvature of the upper part of the door and swivel-out feature of the door handles.

I don't think either of those look anything like an F type.

I agree, but yesterday I was driving with the top down and a guy yelled to me "nice miata!" I almost cried. I couldn't tell if he was being serious or sarcastic.

I had a starbux barista ask me how I liked my new fiat (reskinned miata) - I said it was great but wished I could have got an F-Type... puzzled look ensued

i think the ftype front looks a bit like the Ferrari California. (My $.02)

Note to self, Make sure the next car I get can't be mistaken for anything unworthy. I doubt the McLaren will suffer the same fate as to be called a miata.

I'm puzzled about why she looked puzzled.

Instead people will ask about your Maserati or Lotus. I also think "unworthy" is an unfair term.

front engined, RWD 2 seat sportscars are going to have a particular look about them. I havent really confused the F Type for anything, though I agree it looks a little like the California, I also see a bit of the 370Z in it. Mainly the similarities are to the Astons, IMO.

My mother has a Toyota 86 and I'm sure she'd like to think it looks similar to mine.

A) Wouldn't know an F-Type from an A-Type (B-Type, etc.).
B) Couldn't care less what you drive and/or what it is.

if those drawings are anywhere close to the final product there are definite similarities.

I think the F-Type, being a new car, has the stereotypical shape of a modern sports car and sometimes it's hard for the casual non-car people to tell it apart from the competitions. The XK (R.I.P.) on the other hand was hard to be mistaken for anything else even for the uninitiated and was imo a prettier car.
