Default Meridian sound system (coupe vs cab)

Can anyone confirm if they fixed the problems with the Meridian sound system the the F-Type convertible had in the coupe version, or does it remain the same?

By problems I refer to the distorted bass etc.

Is there a thread or something about the speaker problems? First time I am hearing of it. That said in a car this loud in a convertible too I found the Meridian system rather underwhelming. Not surprising though as the rood was down and my foot was on the gas during the test drive. The sound track played by the sales guy was also some sort of grand sounding soprano opera thing. Not my usual choice but I went with it...certainly felt grand driving that thing!

Underwhelming is an understatement for an underpowered, underperforming system that is a $1200 option.

One of the best systems I have heard is the 875 dollar option for the HK sound in the new BMWs.

Smh. 770 Watts. That's a shame for Jag to give us such a BS system. What exactly is the problem? So I can understand what to address when I receive my car.

There isn't anything to address. It's a design issue...

I don't know what many of you listen to, or at what volumes, that there is this repeated claim of distortion, but I do not usually experience it. In some bass-heavy music, perhaps, but no different than any other high-end factory "upgrade" I've had. It's better, by far, than Ferrari's Bose upgrade (which is an absolute joke) but not as good as the Bang & Olufsen in my Audis. About on a par, I'd say, with the Alpine unit that Aston Martin offered as their "premium" sound.

Ones man distortion is another mans 'awesome' sound system...

...the XJL quads out and has a very clear sound. I loved that system. F-type just sounds like crap, period. Rattle. Distortion. Power drain at higher levels.

The only way to diagnose it would be to get an SPL meter and measure a dozen or so cars and compare the findings.

Maybe something can be done by a professional audio shop.

If you want to go there, here is what I would do:

Dynamat the entire interior after removing all of the panels and body molding.
I would replace every speaker with JL Audio component separates and then the sub in the back would get an upgrade to a JL 8w7 subwoofer, powered both by JL audio 500/1 amp for the sub and a 300/4 for the rest of the speakers.

I would install the JL Audio Cleansweep audio processor to make sure the signal coming out of the factory head unit was output properly to both amps.

Only reason I have not done it is because I am debating upgrading to the R coupe and don't want to spend the money yet...

...that's what I'd do.
