Default Meridian Sound System Satisfaction

Not having enough initial data to properly design a survey, the outcome will not be extremely scientific, but may lead to a more valid poll. As soon as we have enough data for any statistical significance (more than a couple dozen responses) I will begin updating a distribution curve. If you check off anything less than satisfactory, please leave a post with your response and power output (180/330/770).

Default Subtract 1 from Satisfied for true count.

I had to vote to watch the poll (don't have car yet).

Well done. You asked the right questions, and no, I am not the one who said excellent sound quality, but I am "satisfied."

"Excellent sound quality" does not exist in any car ever made.

Not that it matters, but FYI, the base for 14-15 in the U.S. was 380w not 330w. 180w was only offered in UK and perhaps the EU.

I have the base system (380w) and am satisfied. I bought it for the V8 engine. I usually drive with the top down and the music off. I only use the music system on the highway when the top is up.

I voted satisfied. I think I have the 770 (it's the standard option on the R?). It sounds good enough but frankly I just am not that demanding of my car audio system. I think if you are an audiophile you probably would not like it since it does feel like for 770 watts it's not that impressive.

I voted 'Rattles' as I believe the sound system to be OK, but the installation not fit for purpose. I have the 380W Meridian which was an £900 option in the UK.

Audiophiles aren't stupid enough to demand a perfect listening environment in a noisy sports car. Having said that its a better than average retail hi fi system. It could be quite a bit better quality for the price of it.

Having said all that the issue is that the speaker cabinets are poorly fitted and hence, they rattle and hiss. This shouldn't happen on ANY car audio system imo. Its a basic manufacturing flaw and we should be compensated for it, especially those of us with the 770w system we paid for as an extra option.

I put ok but not completely satisfied. Mine is 770w. For an upgraded system it is not as good as the standard Harmon Kardon system in my LR3. Having said that, it works and isn't horrible.

Who buys a car for the sound system? I have the 770 and I am very satisfied (should have been an option as, while not excellent sound quality, I am more than satisfied but voted satisfied as my only other option) when I listen to it. Mostly I keep it turned down to listen to the exhaust.

Satisfied. I have the 380w system in my coupe. I have the settings dialed in good and can crank it up without distortion, or rattles.

I am with Monet though and typically opt for the sound of the exhaust.

Satisfied. I have the base 380watt. I feel that its lacks a bit in midrange notes.

380W
Rattles and poor sound quality

I'm having a bespoke stereo installed as we speak, my car is being used as the R&D vehicle for this particular firm that will then offer the system they develop to other F-Type owners. Of note, this firm has been contacted by several dealerships already to offer this system as a dealer installed option, so clearly the dealers are aware of the poor stereo as well.

770 watt / Poor sound quality.

I've heard much better in my other cars, both past and present

Rattles and poor quality...I certainly expected much more from Jaguar.

Agreed! Thankfully the exhaust note is glorious.

Hi, can you tell me more about this? Interesting but what is this system? Does it look like the one in the car now?
Thanks,

The unit could have had potential. the bottom is missing, and as the song goes....It is all about the base, bout the base......all rattles (the F-type version of this song), LOL.

For the money, simply terrible, the base unit.
