Default Micro SIM

My recently acquired 2018 R convertible arrived without a micro SIM. I understand that Jaguar supplied one with the car and I have requested this from the dealer from whom I purchased it but they are not being cooperative. They are over 2,000 miles away so I cannot go and confront them on this matter. Do I need to purchase one from Jaguar or can I obtain it from somewhere else? If the latter, what are the parameters? I understand that the one which was supplied with the car was from A T & T, does this have to be so?

Thank you in advance for any help that you can give me on this matter.

I don't know about the States, but in the UK it's the user's responsibility to provide the micro SIM to access additional online features. Any suitable SIM can be used (IME) - in the UK I use a Giffgaff SIM for £10 a month for 6GB (I've never used more than 1GB so far, mainly because of lockdowns).

Thank you for your reply. Both The Owner's Manual and the In Control booklet state that Jaguar supplies the micro SIM here in the U.S.A. My investigations so far have revealed that just any SIM will not function in all cars and most will not work in a car at all. I am sure that others have faced the same issue and was hoping to learn from their experience.

In the UK I use an ordinary phone SIM and that works fine.

That is interesting to know. It contradicts what I have read here. I obviously need to do more research. Thank you.

A phone SIM will work fine and you can get one from any store when you sign up for an account. Needs to be GSM, though, such as AT&T. I've used Freedom Pop in the F-Pace.

Yep. Navigation stuff, and online searches for destinations, etc. Your manual should give a clue, telling you that you need the user SIM to use such and such a feature.

Isn't the SIM card that is dealer installed as part of the new car prep already pre-loaded with some information such as the Navigation data and some other information ? You might check with a local authorized Jaguar service center. Adding just a compatible SIM card may not give you all of the available features and functions.

All the system would look for is an internet connection. I can't imagine what would have to be preloaded onto a user SIM to make it function. The car's embedded SIM would obviously have knowledge of Jaguar's systems so it could communicate with them.

It is a typical GSM SIM card with no data on it. It only provides a cellular connection for the vehicle.
