I have emailed Quicksilver to see when they will be completed developing their exhaust for the V6 and they said it should be completed in a few more weeks. The sound is going to be bonkers...and I would think much more of a head turner than even the V8s and R models.
Hi DoctorDeuce, i did a resonator delete on my XK plus exhaust system, and getting rid of the resonator's helped quite a bit. Could you describe what difference that alone made? I imagine it was not very expensive to do...do you remember what it cost? i might just try it depending on your advice...thanks

As for the stock exhaust it is pretty subjective as far as I can tell the V8S is not even louder than the XKR-S.

However, The XKR-S was way too low for me from inside the car. I had high flow CATs and straight-through flow masters installed in the rear, the rest is straight, no resonators.

Subjectively in the driver seat the F-Type V8S is still louder and of course even more so when the top is down. However nobody will say that the F-Type is louder than my XKR-S on a drive by but I usually never get to hear that.

That sound reminds me of the homegrown, "good old boy" solution I use to see in my younger days, where some took a hammer and nail to the muffler to increase the volume. It did work, but not in a good way.

Sound quality and sound volume are independent variables and don't correlate between vehicles. To optimize your outcome you have to establish the value (to you) of volume vs. tonal quality. It's a difficult equation to develop since volume is entirely objective and tonal quality entirely subjective. Good luck!

This reminds me of the time the CFO of one of the brokerage firms I worked for back in NYC in the 80's took me to his gun range on Long Island. Although I was, to say the least, a fish out of water [and a NY Jew ] I also did have my father's 45 which I inherited after he passed (and after getting a NYC permit I also bought a Sig P210 9mm). Long story short, the CFO had just bought a Desert Eagle 50 mm Magnum and the very first time he shot it, everyone - EVERYONE - at the range took a step back from their points, turned on a dime, and collectively remarked "what the F%^& was that???!!!". I then shot it once...maybe twice...and that was that.

Fun to shoot. Once...maybe twice...but certainly not something to live with. At least not for me.

Signed,
A Very Happy with His V6S F-Type

I'm kind of interested in ways to make my R Coupe louder. What are the exhaust upgrade options?

Stage 1 mod: remove resonator, or
Stage 2 mod: remove muffler, or
Stage 3 mod: remove both and run straight pipes, cat back. People will feel their chest cavity vibrate at 50 yards as you drive by under full throttle. The cat(s) should provide sufficient back pressure to avoid burnt valves.
Back in the 70's we were allowed to race with straight pipes and the V8s were called ground thumpers.

All these exhausts are very unrestricted. There are endless threads on trying to improve the sound on the 5.0L V8s. Changing the rear muffler will result in very little change. If you have a resonator, removing that and replace that with an X-pipe will improve somewhat. To really open it up you need high flow CATs. Either get some from Milltek or Quicksilver, which will cost you in the range of $2,000 or have an exhaust shop make them for you. You can save your money on all other exhaust mods as you will not be happy with the sound inside the car. Get a convertible or get new CATs.

The XKR-S was straight from the CATs back with just an X-pipe. When the exhaust valves are open its is basically straight all the way through just a few bends in the pipe. I replaced the rear exhaust with one from Mina which was beautiful and much smaller and lighter but the exhaust noise was almost identical.

Then replaced the rear mufflers with straight through magnaflows, again almost the same sound, then finally changed the CATs and that is where it's at.
