I have the quicksilver and it's not too loud. The only problem is that it can cause some of the interior panels to rattle. I want it even louder so I just bought velocity ap sport cats.

Joshy, I'm intrigued to know why the backbox is black...has someone satin painted it Black perhaps. As it's stainless they usually look kinda steely coloured.

The more they are driven, the darker those boxes get.

Lol, yes i do, i painted it satin along time ago. i hated the way the stainless stuck out from the otherwise perfect backside. But it doesn't matter now anyways....see below.

You're gonna love it! Gonna be crazy with the catless downpipes, can't imagine what a tunnel run would sound like with that setup in loud mode....

I've noticed an increase in the testiness of some forum members of late and reached the conclusion that it's something called F-T Separation Syndrome. This seemingly occurs in those areas where it is necessary or prudent to hibernate one's Jaguar until weather allows its re-emergence when warmer weather returns. There is no known cure other than time.

+1. With 10" of snow in the driveway, I haven't driven the beast in 3 days, and I'm already getting cranky.

Come on down, I'll buy you a beer and we can chat up the girls at a marsh front bar and grill. Great food, great views, good music...good grief how do you stand winters up there?

It does help if you like snow, which we haven't gotten much of this year.

Shush, don't say that out loud. We have 2 months to go. I'm hoping that rabid Pennsylvania miscreant rodent predicts and early spring.

I’ve got a 12 ga. shotgun I’ll use on that little ******* if he doesn’t go the right way.

EDIT: that’s cool the way the forum automatically converts ba$tard to *******

Stohlen, where did you get this diagram? Do you have a link for the source? I've seen the V6 one for a couple years now, but could never find the one for the V-8.

To extrapolate on OP's idea, I have made my own plan by adding one extra step.

1) connecting the outer pipe straight to the mid pip(red line), bypass factory resonator and muffler for louder sound. This is exactly what the OP was suggesting.
2) remove the blue circled portion, weld shut the red circled portion. This is the extra step, to prevent exhaust going straight into the muffler.

Now after doing these, it should function identical to the VAP system(please correct me if I'm wrong, pic to the left, credit to VAP), with valves open, basically a straight pipe.
With valves closed, exhaust will be forced to go through the resonator(albeit entering from the other side, but it will go through the entire perforated section as seen on the pic to the right, credit to Dpark) and muffler, maintaining factory quiet sound when desired.

My concern with any exhaust mod is drone, but if VAP system has no drone(again, correct me if im wrong), the this should not as well.

Please let me know what you guys think. Ultimately I'd have to try it to know, I will update in 2 weeks, stay tuned.

Ray,

Reviving the thread because I am curious. Did you ever end up doing the above diagram you mapped out? I was looking into muffler deletes and came accords the thread. Im basically looking to straight pipe it so this looks like the mod for me. So from my understanding the only exhaust sound is coming out of the outer pipes? Unsure what the inner pipes are doing. This mod should also keep the active valve system to work too right?

any more info on this would be great

Nevermind, I took a second look at the diagram, I'm stupid. So when the valves are open the sound goes through both pipes but when closed it only comes out to the inner pipes which are being muffled. So I guess the best approach to design a similar VAP system is to get rid of this muffler box and insert a smaller one like the VAP and run the pipes similarly to it.
