Default My engine hood is fighting me !

Hi guys, I have a 2017 F Type coupe. I opened the engine hood with ease .
But ... Closing the hood is whole different story. When I try to close the hood, it fights me, not wanting to close. Since the car is new to me, is this normal ? I got scared because I thought I might break the two hood struts by fighting with the hood. Guys is this normal and or, am.I doing something wrong ?

No worries. This is normal. I work at the dealer in Greenville SC and Jaguar actually issued a Special Service Message concerning this fear. The trick is there is a procedure to close the hood. You are supposed to stand directly in front of it and with two hands push forward until closed. Do not try to close it standing on either side. Hope this makes sense.

Thank you my friend . I was trying to close the hood from the side of car. Now I know how to properly close the fighting hood.
Thanks again !

Not to be contrarian, but I preferred standing on the side. However, it is important to push down the middle firmly, and I have very long arms. I was able to do exactly the same thing recommended in the factory guidance from the side of the car.

After opening and closing the bonnet several dozen times, it has loosened enough on both sides for me to just pull it down on one side and let it drop by itself the last 6-8". I'll check both sides afterward just to make certain it's properly latched, but it's real easy now. At first, I had to use the official Jag method to get both sides latched properly.

Yes mine works from the side if you drop it the last bit.

My height allows me to use a similar technique. I stand to the side and lower it to about 8-10", then give it a shove from the center of the back edge. I feel I get more control and I don't feel like I'm slamming it shut. That just doesn't seem right for a vehicle of refinement. In one of the surveys I responded to I mentioned that.

My technique as well. One big handprint on the hood instead of two.
