My New 2015 F-Type R Coupe
#21
Come on, folks! For those who haven't seen a quality wrap job, the state of the art has advanced x100 these past few years. 3M and others have done their homework.
As far as wrapping a $100K car, I've seen F and L cars both partially and totally wrapped (and dipped). In the hands of a real "wrap guru," the results can be stunning. I wouldn't hesitate to wrap if the situation was right (and have--outside trim/inside accents in multiple rides).
Besides..., the wrap is reversible.
dcmetro: Great looking R! Red over the black wheels and trim really pops!

Will post more pictures later. It was raining today.
Already made a couple of changes to stock.
- Wrapped the chrome trim around the window with 3M wrap.
- Obviously tinted the windows with 20%. Also need to tint the sunroof a couple of days later due to the amount of heat coming through.
- Purchased the Tornado Wheels for summer. Will use the stock wheels for winter.

Everything else was already black except the front grille surround (which is still chrome) and the side power vents (which I purchased and had installed for $150 at the dealership). My point was never about the money. The 3M wrap was way more than $20, so the $380 savings is not accurate. I was being sarcastic.
I guess my point is: this car had everything that I wanted sans the black pack. If I use 3M vinyl wrap around the windows, does it make the car a POS. Maybe for some, but I can overlook it.
I'm going to upload some pics and a video later on and you can decide.
Definitely feeling the warm welcome.

Love it! I think red really suits the f-type, much more than one or two of the other more popular colours. I'm a big fan of wrap myself. It is completely reversible and looks great (well, you wouldn't know it was wrap), but once you start wrapping and develop some skill its hard to stop. In fact I'm a wrap addict - as I've explained on the XK forum - though at the moment I'm going cold turkey. I think that the f-type R might be in my future (probably a few years away, they'd cost over $200K here) and I suspect that at least the bonnet vents might cop some cf wrap, as I've done to the XKR.

Well I AM in the exact same situation as you, so thanks for the information about the side power vents. I didn't realize that the dealership would have those parts available in black, so will look into that for sure. The one I bought was Polaris White without the black pack, but since that was the only thing it DIDN'T have, I wasn't going to sink the deal just for that. I'll wrap the chrome window surrounds and front grille surrounds, and was planning on wrapping the side power vents, but was wondering how that would go with the "JAGUAR" indent. So great to know that you can order that part.
For those that think wrapping cars is the purvey of Mazda 3 owners, a good wrap job can be absolutely beautiful on a car of any cost. One of the best I've seen is on an Aston Martin Vanquish.

The car looks FANTASTIC. Congratulations on your purchase. The red sure looks sick with those black tornados. Nicely done!!!!

I'm 6'4" and weight about 210. It's a smallish cockpit, but after sitting in it for awhile, it's quite comfortable. I almost eliminated the car because I didn't think I fit, but after a couple of test drives that concern was out to bed. The standard seats are good. The sports seats in the R are EXCELLENT. If you get the full electric seats, you will find there is a function where the seat moves forward if you put it back too far. It's annoying because it makes it hard to get it back to it's furthermost limit. But once you get it and set it it's no problem. The standard seats have manual movement back and forth so you don't run into that

I noticed that when I test drove one...rather annoying but I finally got it right after 3-4 attempts.

Seriously, there are always people with negative opinions. It's your car - do what the heck you like with it. Looks fantastic !!
