Hi everyone,
I need some help! So I’ve recently committed to a MY18 SVR convertible and I’m now on the hunt for the cleanest way to have CarPlay installed. I’ve read through the forums and the available options - I was resigned to the UAD solution till I can across an interesting thread:
The key post from the thread is:
Where I need help:
1. My car matches most of the descriptions here (MY18, built for the German market). How can I confirm without disassembly that I have the IMC-based InControl Touch Pro system?
2. Would it be possible to have the necessary coding done remotely or would I need to find a local garage?
P.S. I’ve reached out to Xdave but he hasn’t been online in a while. Really appreciate the help.

The key post from the thread is:
Yours is a 2018MY, and you have the IMC-based InControl Touch Pro system. You can look up the specs here: https://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/user/login. Put in JCK49570 as the VIN and then click on 'All vehicle details' and then 'Minor features'.
You can't use an Android overlay - those are for the older Bosch IAM and Harman systems only. They don't make overlays for the IMC systems because you don't need them.
Instead you just install the OEM system. You replace the 8" display with the 10" display (and the brackets) and update your cars software configuration to tell it you have the larger screen installed. You can then enable Carplay.
I've not done the upgrade on an F-Type yet, but you can read about the process for the XJ with the identical system here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...pgrade-227763/
You can confirm it is an IMC by unbolting it from the bracket and on the opposite side there should be a label with H9A3-19C216-AA written on it (according to the as-built data, but it may have been replaced in service with a later revision)
A cursory pass through the EPC using LCK66913 as a reference (LHD, Jet interior, 10" ICTP system), gives these parts:
T2R38268 / KX53-047A04-AC, Outer screen bezel (the shiny black part you see)
T2R26653 / KX53-10F838-AA, Bracket cover (the inner bracket that the display attaches too)
On the XJ you need to replace the centre console reinforcement bracket to accommodate the large screen, but the F-Type is showing the same main facia assembly and the same reinforcement for both your car and LCK66913. That suggests that the bracket cover part above adapts the existing fascia mounts to accommodate the larger screen.
Obviously you'd also need the 10" screen as well, but those are all over eBay as they are shared amongst dozens of different JLR vehicles from 2016 to 2020. Any one marked 10 SV (single view) will work just fine.
The actual CCF bytes that you need to change to switch the display type will likely be in a different position, but have the same name (so you can use the guide above to search for them). You likely won't need to recode any of the hardware buttons as all of the ones on the F-Type are replaced with the soft buttons. The connector for the existing hardware buttons can hopefully just be taped out of the way.

1) Send me your VIN in a PM and I'll confirm. It's highly likely to be IMC based if it's a MY18 SVR.
2) It is possible to be done remotely but you'll have the have the equipment that a Jaguar specialist would have and if you were to take it to a Jaguar specialist, they would likely not know what to do.

I have a local garage that I know will have the equipment. Might just have to guide them through the process…thanks again.

You probably should to take a look at https://www.powerfuluk.com. They have done some screen upgrades to Range Rovers, which of course, use the same components as Jags. They have a few videos on infotainment screen upgrades—some android, others showing JLR upgrades. It should at least be a good starting point for you.
Good luck!

A quick update...and looking to tap into the collective wisdom on the forums...
I've successfully had the 10" display installed and just as Dave posited it's a 1:1 fit!. Everything (including apple car play thankfully) works apart from the rear view camera.
When reverse is engaged or the camera soft button pressed nothing happens. There aren't any error codes or messages, but the parking sensors are engaged and show up on the screen. The garage is looking into solutions but I wanted to ask if anyone here had any ideas on what the issue could be and how to possibly address them
Thanks

Looked around in there a couple of times before and am pretty sure I didn't see Harman anywhere. Given that it's a late MY18 I'm pretty sure it will be IMC so the question is whether UAD will work with that.

if your car is similar to mine then what you’re looking for is posted earlier in the thread. You can source an OEM 10” screen and follow the instructions (adjusting for your car) in xdave’s excellent guide.

are you based in the uk? I’m really interested in this mod to get access to Apple Car Play. I have a MY18 F Type V8 R with surround Meridian Touch Pro NGI Head Unit High.
assuming you are in the uk, Which garage did you use to do the work?
I’ll follow this with anticipation. What system has your car got?
thanks

Thanks, I'll look into this. I discussed with the garage and they suggested we get another '19 year upwards F-type to copy configuration files across.
