I am currently working on finishing a Carplay install in my MY2017 V6S Convertible that has the 2nd Gen Bosch head unit. So far the install has gone well and I have connected everything behind the head unit in the dash. The kit that I bought from "In Car Solutions" on aliexpress requires access to the CD changer unit which is installed behind the center console in between the seats, but so far I haven't been able to remove the center locking storage cubby to access the back of the CD changer unit.
Does anyone have the service manual that describes how to replace the CD changer unit? This is the specific connector that I need to unplug from the CD changer and splice in using the provided wiring harness from my carplay kit:
On the later Harman head unit systems, the cubby storage panel appears to pop off easily with some pressure but I have been unable to remove the panel or the locking storage compartment yet.
Looks like in the service manual this module is referred to as the IAM (Integrated Audio Module). A quick browse through the service manual seems to indicate that removing/replacing the IAM is quite involved, with partial removal of the center console which in turn might require removal of one or more seats. I would really prefer to not remove either of the seats lol.
Has anyone done a carplay install that integrates with the IAM on a Bosch system before? Trying to get an idea of whether or not this is something I can do myself.
Thanks
