I'm gonna say 15 minutes because it took me a little over 2 hours. I was so excited with the new discovery that I didn't care. I did have to restart the car every now and then because of the 3-minute shutoff warning coming up. If you don't want to waste time like I did, you can always download a cd on every drive longer than say 15 minutes.

One new thing that I did discover in the process...the volume when the car is off will not go beyond 3/4. A battery icon pops up there at the 3/4 mark of the volume display so as to tell you, "Hey knucklehead, you'll drain your battery blasting 38 Special at full power!"

This is very similar to the limit the car places on the volume when it shuts off your car in ECO mode. It limits the volume to 3/4 and displays a small ECO icon on the volume display there telling you why.

I still have most of my hearing, so I've not had the opportunity to observe this!

Let's just say I was exploring the car's boundaries. And last night, I had a little time to kill during downloads, so I was quality control checking my recent CD downloads

Looks just like this, except there's a yellow battery icon where the green ECO icon is here.

Some locking/unlocking key fob observations:
  • Locked car with key fob in driver's area. I can not unlock the car by pressing the unlock door handle button while outside (this one is obviously a requirement).
  • Unlocked car with key fob in the driver's area. I can not lock the car by pressing in on the door handle.
  • Unlocked car. I put the key fob in the trunk and close the door. No problem.
  • Locked car. I open the trunk with that key fob button (car is still locked) and put the key inside and close the trunk. Trunk will not stay closed. It keeps popping up 1/8th inch.

If you hold the unlock button down after unlocking the windows will go down.

The seat backs do not tilt forward manually as I have yet to see any hinges or a release lever.

If you push in the door handle without the fob nearby it will stay in without folding the mirrors. Good for photos.

Huh. Normally, if you try to push in the handle without the key fob, it will honk twice and the handle stays out.

The mpg calculation is wildly inaccurate. I used to think that it was only a couple mpg optimistic until this past weekend. I went 112 miles all highway. The computer said that I averaged 30.3 mpg so I figured it was really 28 or so. It took 5 gallons to fill.

I've never bothered to check it the old-fashioned way with actual mileage divided by gallons. Your result certainly suggests some of the crazy mpg trip number posted are way off.

I've often wondered, in the absence of topping-off, how accurate the old mileage technique is? I.e. how repeatable is filling up, if you don't top off? No idea.

At least the pumps don't shut off prematurely when I fill mine.

On my car, after the pump shuts off automatically, I can't get even another 1/10 gallon in mine, so I'd say very accurate. You're right the only reliable way is topping off after keeping track of mileage since last fill up.

I had the same experience. The first time I filled up the car it stopped and I went to top off like 75 cents and I ended up over flowing the tank. I was like wow, when it says it's full it really is full.

When I owned a BMW, I had read not to continue to pump after auto shut off by pump when it reaches full. I don't remember the reasoning, but I still follow that protocol.

I've done it twice now by accident while detailing. Next time I'll snap a pic. It does beep at you when it happens but it stayed closed both times.

Note that if you unlock the car but don't open a door, it will relock itself after something like a minute.

Ok, I did Internet search to recall why NOT to top off tank. There are several articles with several reasons, but two most important are the gas in the ( ground )station tank is cooler than outside temperature and will expand in your tank after heating up. Needs room to expand. Also because gas station hose has vapor recovery system, excess gas not able to go into your tank will be charged to you but drawn back into tank. Third is cars vapor recovery system may draw excess gas into it. There are also some environmental reasons. Better to be on safe Side I think. Draw your own conclusions.

3rd one is the main reason, I think.

If you hold your finger on the seat/memory buttons, they will operate while driving. Works good for me because I have setting 2 for both mirrors to drop down as I back onto my car lift. Then when I leave my driveway I hold my finger on button 1 and it will go back to 1 setting. Otherwise it wont go while you are moving with a quick press

Will have to try this. I programmed a couple of seat positions to use on long trips but found that the mirrors and wheel would adjust on the fly but the seat wouldn't move. I was just doing button taps however.

I tried this technique, to set up a position for parking, with the seat raised up for better visibility (I like it low for driving.) But it doesn't do coordinated movements - it starts by raising the back, which squashes me into the steering wheel, then it raises the front. Not as useful as it could be...
