Default NAV Voice Guidance Not Working

The navigation voice guidance has worked since I picked up the car a month ago. Today, I cannot get it to work. I went to the Nav screen where you can turn the voice guidance on and off with the soft key and it is on. I checked the audio volume and it was OK. The manual indicates the soft key on the Nav screen is the only method for turning the voice guidance on and off.

Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? I live an hour from the dealer so don't want to make a special trip for this.

On two occasions, I've had little glitches associated with the soft keys not responding. Both occurred within the first month I had the car, and on both occasions, I was able to restore all functions by shutting the car down and re-starting. Did you try that?

Neither of my issues has re-occurred in the last 7 months I've had the car.

You might also try a complete reboot by disconnecting the battery(s) for a couple minutes.

Yes, I still have the problem after re-starting.

Just the negative terminal would probably do it.

If I had a nickel for every odd behaving device that was fixed by disconnecting the battery/power, I'd have a lot of nickels...

You'd think by now a hard reset option would be built into everything...

Wonder if it would be easier to temporarily remove the fuse for the nav system.

I disconnected and reconnected the battery and the NAV voice started working again but I can barely hear it. If I turn the volume up the radio gets louder but the NAV voice does not and cannot be heard above the radio. Is there a way to turn the audio (radio, etc) completely off but still have the volume on so I can hear the NAV?

Check the owner's manual. You should be able to independently adjust the Nav volume through the interface.

This is my guess too. I suspect the navigation volume has been set to zero. It's an easy adjustment through the menu.

I didn't find any option to change voices in mine. On my Ford (completely different system), if I turn the volume know while the Nav system is talking, it changes the Nav volume not the radio volume.

There's definitely an option to change the nav voice. It' under audio system settings from what I remember. OR you can change it when the voice nav is speaking with the volume knob. There's also an option to enable/disable voice nav.

Lovemonet, try this:
Select 'Setup' from the touch screen Home menu, then select 'System'.
Select Volume presets, then use the +soft key alongside the Navigation.

If there is no option to select volume for navigation, try setting the volume higher for the Parking aid. I get the feeling those two volumes may be connected as they both mute the phone and radio volumes when they come on.

Same on my BMW.
