Default Navigation is off by about 20 miles.

I know I have seen a thread about this topic before, I have searched and searched but can not locate it. My GPS is consistently off by about 20 miles. The problem comes and goes for a few days at a time. I told my dealer at the first service and they "recalibrated" and said it was fine. I read in the previous thread that someone had to have their GPS antenna replaced. Does anyone have any ideas or has anyone had the same problem? Had the car 14 months since new and problem comes and goes. 2018 R

A couple of people on a UK forum had a similar issue which was fixed by antenna replacement. Theirs were off by a lot more than 20 miles, though!

I don't trust mine, but not that it is off. My '11 XFSC brought me to a few strange locations. Unfortunate, but I feel Google drive on my phone provides better, more reliable guidance.

Is there not a self calibration for the GPS within the system settings? Perhaps the manual may reveal some clues.

Although not a JLR technician a recalibration sounds suspect. I had a bad gyro in nav unit once that made the screen spin in circles, but the fact that yours is intermittent indicates that the unit may be faulty. I don’t depend on my nav at all, but if I were to use it, I would expect that it would be reasonably close and consistent. Knowing that every time you use it is, you have a coin flip’s chance to get the correct information is not acceptable.

Nothing (not even clues) about calibration in my MY18 manual.

Maybe you are going so fast it's not telling you where you are but where you've been.

I've driven my MINI around in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay. Even Waze gets confused by as much as a half mile occasionally.

There must be a difference between off-road and off-land!

Get a landrover! 29-35 inches of water; no issue (depending on model).

Mine has never been off on location, although it's consistently overstates my travel time by 10%-20% - on the high end of the range when the top is down.
There must be some simple explanation. ;-)

My unit has several locations that will give me a route that takes me on a 45 degree angle away from my destination, then back 45 degrees across my original route before returning to the correct route. When questioned, JLR just says???? So far I am aware of the general location of this particular problem and can watch for it. If it should happen in an out of the way location, I can only hope I am not low on gas??

Our '14's Sat/Nav has done that as well (adding 30 miles to a 100 mile trip! ), though the GPS always seems to position the car fairly accurately on the map. I was thinking it was a SETTING issue. (Obviously it is unsafe to go delving deeply into the Nav menus while driving...)

I'll be posting my setup questions in a separate Topic after I take some pictures.

I’ve had other nav systems warn that a route included private roads, though I could see no evidence of that. The nav system is probably routing around something that may or may not be real. CarBuff may be right, other nav systems let me avoid toll roads, etc. Don’t use the F-type one much, so haven’t looked at settings.

Debating on whether to get a $199 update. I last updated it 3 years ago.

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same problem. I just noticed it, and don't know if it's intermittent.

My system consistently gives this same "Diversion" at the same location(main road leading out of my community). Neither Waze, or my Garmin will do this. Jag dealer says everything is O.K.

Last year, my GPS lost the position about 3 times, once in the water at about 200 miles, once in the mountains, once in the contry. After a couple of weeks, last time more than a month, it repositioned itself in the right position. Non way to understand the problem. Now it is ok

I just had the wrap removed. I'm wondering if that may have loosened the antenna and then when I washed the car, that allowed some water to get inside the antenna.

Is there any way to remove the antenna cover to check it out?
