Hello all! I brought in my F-Type to the dealer, where they noticed that my front tires need to be replaced. I had Pilot Super Sports all around, and I told them to go ahead and replace the fronts. I got the car back, didn't pay much attention and realized they put Michelin Pilot ALL SEASONS on the fronts. I went from a Max Performance Summer to an all season.
GOOD NEWS! They said they did make a mistake and want to make it right. They will either replace the fronts to a new Max Performance Summer (the successor to the Pilot Super Sports, the 4S) or replace the rears to be all seasons and match the fronts.
I would go with all seasons...BUT, given where you are, your best bet is probably to go with the Max Performance Summer tires. Just an opinion. Really your preference.
I doubt you need the AS (like I do in this crappy weather).
I have summer tires on my f type - we don’t get tons of snow but it does get cold enough that summer tires aren’t safe - that said, I have Mickey Thompson street radials on my challenger and got some new Pilot AS4’s for it so I can drive in the cold and they are fantastic. I’ve had PS4S and I know I’ll probably be asked to leave the forum, but they were not good; couldn’t get a set to balance or ride well so I went to the Indy500’s (which are great). The AS4 had great reviews so I gave them a shot - the grip is outstanding and the handling is very good. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to get good traction with the HP but they very capable and keep the car planted in cooler temps and I imagine they will be even better in the spring and summer. They look nice as well. If I could ever drive enough to wear out the Firestones, I would go with AS4’s on the f type as well. Wouldn’t drive it in then snow anyway but nice to be able to stretch its legs on a dry-cold day.
Being only slightly evil, you might be content with All Seasons (they are good tires). But, for a F-Type, I'd move toward the Max Performance all around. If you're rears are really good, mix and match for a while, but also consider getting the dealer to cut you a deal on doing the rears, as well, at the same time. You won't get them free, but they could knock 30% off since they created this mess.

+1 on matching them. Some people will warn about the dangers of different tires front/back - I don’t think it’s unsafe and staggered fitment means you have different tires anyway - that said, my OCD would not allow me to mix. I rarely wear tires out due to not driving much and changing taste in cars but I have worn rears out quicker so I order a full set while the existing ones are decent and then I can sell the rears for a few bucks and maybe get a little more for the fronts. Helps offset the cost of the new ones and there is no sense driving on worn rubber.
I had Continental Extreme Contact DWS ( Dry, Wet, Snow) all seasons put on my 2017. Here in Wisconsin, we have all those weather conditions. Summer only tires are scary in cold weather. The Continentals were superb in a monstrous downpour that I encountered without warning on the interstate outside Milwaukee. I put Michelin all-season run flats on the 2018 Corvette. Nice to be able to take the cars out on a dry day, no matter what the temperature.
The Pilot Sport 4S is an incredible tire. I recently just swapped the awful factory P Zeros and couldn’t be happier. Had the Super Sport on my C63S and the PS4S was a huge upgrade on that too - significant improvement in traction which the C63S really struggled with.
Opinion only:
If you track/HPDE the car on the tires, the max performance....and in Silicon Valley, probably more than fine in terms of temperature.
But, if you just drive the car on the street only, the new generation of ultra high performance all season tires is pretty much (in my mind at least) where summer tires were 5 years ago.
I happen to use Conti DWS06 Plus tires and for me they are doing great. Wear is minimal at 3k miles (9.6/10 left on the rears......0.4 for 3k miles....amazing..the factory alignment is pretty darn nice to tires, at least on my car). . Noise is minimal. In my 19" oem sized tires and the handling is supercar good. They are better than the non "plus" version but are not a summer tire. I'm ok with that as I can just drive no matter what and it is my DD.
