Is it lowering springs, or lower rate springs you're looking to supply?

The springs are designed to lower the car by 0.5-0.75".

They are being manufactured using a unique proprietary process which produces a true progressive rate spring. The result is that the initial travel is often slightly softer that the genuine/OEM parts, but firmer when placed under load. Best of both worlds.

If you're interested, we're actually based in Dorset so we might be able do installation for you as well.

Wait a sec Stu.

We have to provide our cars and risk damage ending up out of warranty on top of having to pay for the springs?

That's not how Clinical Tests work... you pay the guinea pig!

I'd do it if I were closer. I wanna go lower - for sure. Just depends on what your 'progressive spring made with proprietary processes' goes for.

To be perfectly frank, I don't think there is any risk of damage. We're dealing with an extremely knowledgeable and reputable supplier. If it is not for you no worries, everyone has a different view on these things!

Ending up out of warranty - this is always something that those who modify under-warranty cars have to judge for themselves. I think there's a pretty substantial practical & legal precedent, especially in the United States with the Magnusson Moss Act, regarding warranty. If you put lowering springs on the car and the engine goes pop, or a window regulator fails, you're covered. Related components are perhaps a different story but it is still incumbent upon the warranty issuer to prove that a modification caused a failure.

Think about all the hundreds of thousands of people who put aftermarket wheels on a warrantied car every year. If there was blanket warranty denial based on one modification like that.....

At any rate. If anyone is interested, please email me and I will give you full info, including the special deal on offer!

Like I said, i'm interested and not worried about warranty issues. Just depends on what your cost is.

Stu,

We would also require another alignment with the car lowered, correct?

It is a good idea, yes. Usually you should do a few miles first and let everything settle.

It looks like around $600-700 for a full set, but not quite finalized yet. It may be possible to produce a different style with additional lowering, but it will probably depend upon demand.

Quick update for you. These are the springs we have done for the V8 Vantage. Note the wind on the coils - the way they actually gradually go from loose to tight rather than suddenly from one spring rate to another. There is also a conical shape to them that is hard to see in the picture, but this is a true progressive setup. Looking forward to the install review and results hopefully next week.

We have done a lot more research and analysis on the F-Type, and it appears that the kerb weights on all the cars, from V6 Coupe to V8 Convertible are very close to one another. Other than the V8 Coupe which has a different spring mounting point for the front, the mounting points are the same and spring rates appear very similar.

So quite likely we will have some options available for all F-Type owners within the next few weeks which give a moderate drop, smooth and compliant cruising ride but nice firm and progressive cornering.

I'm not sure I know any that I would consider Jag specialists, but then, it would be hard for anyone to qualify themselves as F-Type specialists at this point!

Installing springs on these cars is something that I think any good shop that works on cars of a reasonable value should be able to do competently.

Quick Update. The prototype springs are going to be ready to ship end of next week. We have a tester lined up for the convertible, but I still need someone with a V8 Coupe.

Prototype Springs are finished and should be dispatching tomorrow to their new owners. Have a V8S Convertible and a V8R Coupe, both owners have stepped up to test-fit.

We should have confirmed fitment end of next week and we'll be good to go.

Thanks for the opportunity Stuart. I should get the springs Monday or Tuesday and then get them on... Ill be posting a before and after thread here. The car really needs about a 3/4 inch drop as the gap is just too big IMHO.

If anyone here is considering the H&R setup; do NOT do it. I ordered them and they are all wrong. They said in their application menu on the site (since been removed and now it only reads F Type Convertible LOL but still says Type R under the chassis??) that the F Type R Coupe would use the same springs as the F Type S vert and the V6. So when my shop installed the springs the front was actually higher than stock and the rear was sunken to the tire. So my shop thought that maybe the springs were miss labeled so they flipped them and the same issue occurred. H&R failed to realize that the Coupe has a very short spring up front and apparently they did no R&D on the R coupe to confirm this. This all happend two weeks ago and now when you go to the H&R site there is no Jaguar application for the R coupe anymore.
