I disagree, the Mina Gallery system on my V6 (just the lower parts replacing the stock airboxes and filters with cone filters) makes mucho more SC whine than the stock system. Performance who knows, maybe a tiny bit more hp/torque but no real noticeable difference.

Just run factory. No real power gains to be had...the stock units are way overbuilt so if you added more airflow/suction, they'd be fine....
We are not racing our cars and don't need that extra 1hp...but we do need and want to keep our 15-20k engine happy for as long as possible. Seems like a no brainer.

I should have clarified in my post-nothing was noticeably gained other than an increase in SC wine. The Mina Gallery drastically increased the SC wine but in terms of added hp I think there are debates it makes no more, actually less hp than stock or the mfg claims which is typically 10-20 hp gain.

Yep, this debate has gone on for years and is nearly as common as "best oil"!
From everything I have read on the interwebz and elsewhere oil coated filters such as K&N, BMC and Mina Gallery perform no better than clean stock paper based filters in well designed systems such as that on the F-Type. Some also say that the oil coated filters don't filter out fine dust particles (such as the infamous Oz outback "bulldust") as well as paper filters which can cause engine damage, and of course there is the problem of over-oiled filters fouling the MAF sensors (been there done that many moons and cars ago).
All that said I am happy to go with the Mina Gallery oiled cone filters on my F-Type as I don't drive in dusty conditions at all any more, I make sure they are not over-oiled, I haven't noticed any change in performance, and I'm primarily after the increased SC whine.

Cheers, except that each response was that there was a noticeable difference in sound (whine). I would say it was a big difference, because there was virtually no whine beforehand and after there was some albeit not like a Hellcat, and there was quite a lot at high revs not that I did that often. It was hard to tell if there was any performance change - certainly if there was any it wasnt as dramatic for daily driving as (say) going from 380hp to the 400, so if there was an increase it wasnt registering on the but dyno.

I tried this on a prior car (dry filter, designed to be dry) to check it out. Here is what I did:
Normal driving roads only. Commute then was about 50miles on an interstate...was paved, etc. No issues.
Changed filter, cleaned box. Put new paper filter in. Drove one week. Checked it. No dust in box, etc.
Put in the 5x more expensive dry filter. More intake noise. No more power (people did dyno tests for this, less torque was likely....power at most was under 1/2 of 1 percent up or down). Car was basically well engineered from the get go....
Drove it for a week. Same roads.
Opened it up. Found quite a bit of dust behind the filter in the intake area and tubing.
Cleaned it out. Put the paper back in.
Threw the dry filter away.
To all those going after the sound - you need to ask yourself if dirt in your engine is worth the noise. Simple math for me....I hate dirt in my car's engine that is preventable.
