What I want is a retrofit on the digital cluster , I like the one right now but must admit that thing looks clean.

I really like the front end, it is a bit retro like a 60's or 70's muscle car. I keep telling myself it doesnt look like an i8. The inside is nice too. We have all of that gear in our XE, it is really easy to use. The F Type didnt really need it to be a great driving car, but it doesnt hurt.

2 versions of the 8 though?

I prefer the current instrument panel and the new center screen. Not a fan of the new headlights but really like the ventilation slots on top of the hood. Haven’t seen enough of the tail to render an opinion. All in all, not enough to spend a dime buying one of the new ones.(even more so with the lack of an MT.)

I much prefer the current design. At least it looks less corporate. This new i-pace face makes it look generic and it has hints of other manufacturers all over. I also prefer the current taillights. All together I think the original design is prettier. This new facelift is going for the squint eyes trying to look mean. It looks like an i-pace, Audi and every other car out there. Jag is really losing its way. Went from distinct design to generic is about a decade.

Hideous front, audi/tesla look, rear lights dont follow the lines of the car and the worst thing for me the analog dials are gone

The F type was the one car that had a distinct face. Now even this model looks almost identical to every other one in the lineup.

So is this considered to be a part of the X152 architecture, or is it entirely different underneath?

The shifter paddles look like they might have been upgraded to aluminum. Too bad they didn't take this opportunity to do a better job of integrating the rear-view camera and left it in plain sight.

We have the instrument panel in the 2020 XE, it is actually very pretty and nice to use though I wouldnt be busting my nuts to get it in the F Type. The aluminium paddles are also in the XE, but I dont like them as much as the plastic ones. The have a bendy disconnected feel about them, they remind me of the G25 logitech wheel if you have used that, I actually dont so much like using the paddles in the new XE whereas I like using them in the F Type and the previous XE. The plastic ones are firmer and clicky and feel faster. The shape of the aluminium ones is better though. Talk about first world issues...

I have one of the last stock R from 2019 that I bought in Germany. Paddles are standard in aluminium and the as new declared apple carplay already in place. So I see in this nothing new.
Concerning head and backlights, they would be ok with a body redesign for sure. But for me, this dont fit. Everything points to only reduce costs. TFT screen is in making nothing else as a tablet, so much cheaper as electromechanical instruments. In airplanes you have always double system. Because if here your tft display fails, you are driving blind. No V6 points also to economy but a low power V8 is a nogo. Specially if it is the old heavy weight engine cut down.

- straight six is 10 inches too long to fit under the hood;
- V8 is BMW block, lighter and more fueleconomy ;

Worse part : no flat bottom steering wheel available anymore..
And in the V8 cars you are stuck to extended sills or the introduction version with HIDIOUS wheels and body colors..

What I dont get : since they redesigned a large part of the front, why not extend the front overhang and fit the straight 6 into it...

The front end could be confused with a Ghibli, and that is not a good thing. It's a small to medium step backwards. Why?

You mean that this V8 is the "old lady fart engine" , so no worry about neighbour's sleep anymore. Interesting that there is no mention of the BMW engine in the announcement ?

Suppose I would not mind the slit-eyes, and I would like to pay extra to get a V8.. ..then I am either stuck with the "R-Type" with the ugly sills, or the introduction model with hidious wheels..

Then, I could not get a flat bottom steering wheel in any model..
..also the P300 has no cooled seat option, only the more expensive models.. ..why ??

I think they need to fire a product manager.. ..what a bunch of idiots...
Who decided on these fixed drama's ...

+1
Don't see much positive with this design 'refresh' except for the glovebox button.

Everything I've seen says that the v8 remains the 5 litre, in both versions.

Despite the suggestion by Dan_NL I reckon it is 99% certain that the lo-po V8 is still the AJ133 and not a Beemer unit.
Good news for VAP and other tuners I reckon, if it were me I would get the certainly much cheaper V8 instead of the R then spend a relative pittance on tuning it to 620+ hp.
