New F-Type 02/12/19

Regardless, it's clear Jaguar is losing it.
When you look back at the S-Type and XJ, XK8 and XK and original F-Type, all cars which looked distinct and like nothing else on the road, and then you look at the generic XE, XF, E-pace and I-Pace and now this new F-type, it's a disappointment. They don't look like Jags anymore. They could as well be German. OK, the XK looks like an Aston but at least it's still pretty.

I just don’t get why they think it’s necessary for all the models in their line up to have the same face. It’s dumb....Jaguar should do something creative.....IDK, like a fluted bonnets maybe? Or twin round headlamps? Something that actually differentiates them from every other car out there?

Add me to the list of people disappointed in the headlight design. I'll have to see it in person to make a final judgement, but the front end just looks kind of generic to me now. It just doesn't seem as beautiful. In profile of course the car still looks amazing. I like the upgraded infotainment and I'm not sure what to think of the instrument panel yet. Part of me likes the old instrument panel. It feels like it fits the personality of the car.
I was hoping for a design I'd be in love with and I'd be calling the dealer today to plan my upgrade, but this isn't it.

On the one hand, I think it was a good idea not to mess too much with the F-type design. It truly is a masterpiece of art.
However, when I consider that the lease of my 2018 F-type MT R-Dynamic is coming due in Nov 2020 -- why would I even consider "upgrading" to the new model. Even putting the 3rd pedal aside (which is hard to do), I could buy out my car, get a VAP tune/pulley, and turn my V6 into the equivalent power of the 2021 V8. And, in many ways, I actually still like the styling of the older models anyway.

Doesn't look terrible but doesn't make me want to upgrade. However, I've never bought "the next generation" of any car that I've owned. I generally switch to something different. I still enjoy my 2015. When I replace it, it won't be for another F-Type (curious to see what the next generation of Lotus cars will look like).

And since the headlights are the face of the car, ruining them ruins the car. I couldn't care less if they might be technologically more modern. They look ugly. As ugly as an Audi now. They could still be modern while looking like a Jaguar. It now looks like an Audi, or a Mustang or anything uglier than a F type. Sorry. I hate it.

I think together with the TFT cluster and the headlight design they leave the ground of the classic upper class sport car. For a car sold worldwide at about 1700 units (+-300 V8 ?) this could be fatal. Look at Porsche 911 that Jaguar want to concurrence. Classic instruments and from last year model to next year model only small changements. You could imagine a 911 with such headlights ?

It is disappointing. F-Type had a very distinct character and the new front look is taking away one of the major components of that character. With that said I have high respect for the design and engineering work behind these vehicles. I'm sure this new revised version is a great car, but still I know already that this would never be my next car.

Looks like I may have been ahead of the curve with my custom badging on the **** end!
The new lo-po V8 is meant to be 450 PS (or 444 hp) and my VAP tuned and ancient 2014 V6 is the same (or maybe a little more), with a "450" badge on the rump:
I can't find any pics of the rear end of the lo-po V8 yet, but if JLR are true to form it will have a very similar looking badge to mine.
My guess is the badge will be "P450" in almost the identical font, colour, size and shape as mine.
If I am right my badge will confuse the punters even more!
