There's a difference between homage and nostalgia. Jaguar needs to attract new customers, even if it alienates existing ones. There are far more non-Jaguar buyers than Jaguar buyers.

Old headlights remind me of exotic cars, for example a Ferrari F12. That's what I love about the old generation F-type. It looks exotic.

I am beginning to agree, shockingly, that Jag should have retired this car. It would give them a leap into the future for electric, etc and all that.

This new one? Well I will let the Jalopnik reader comment:

I am just about in the market for a new car and I want AWD and a manual and I don’t want a flat brim, vape ready stupidroo

I originally missed the tie fighter lights when they gave me the 2019, from my 2016. OMG THRILLED TO DEATH that I've both the last gen and last manual gen of the classic F-Type.
I don't mind the newer headlamps now, because as the other poster said they still mimic old ferrari/exotics, and that's dandy.

But yes, your lamps were designed after a Tie Fighter (at least it's mentioned often)

Add me to the list of people that hate the new headlight design. The only improvement was the loss of the grill bar but the hideous headlights overshadow that. Now it looks like every other Jag model; too bad. Unhinged's car for the win!

I wonder if the original F-Type had come with the new lights and the facelift had switched to the old style would we be complaining about that?

Yes, they would be saying "OMG, give the 370Z its face back!"

It crossed my mind that the front is getting more of a retro muscle car look which a lot of aussies are loving from our forums here and it also seems to be popular in the UK, but not in the US mayube because you have had your 'stangs and camaros and chargers etc forever so to you they look cheap whereas to other countries they are still a bit exotic. Personally I quite like the squared off front end on a sports/muscle car, a bit jensen interceptor-y.

No because it would be completely different to anything else.

mixed bag for me

the digital cluster i get, but why not put the new steering wheel on it

exterior i like, makes it look more modern, but then you catch it on that quarter view and the hard sharp front end design doesn't seem to match the sides and curvy rear haunches

a manual vantage is looking more and more appealing as next move

Hi,
in my 2020 you can put the steering wheel electric control on auto. At this moment before you climb into the car and also
before moving out, the steering wheel moves automatically to an upper position. I think this gadget will now be in all F-Types.
But I have still the flat wheel and I like it. Anyway I am already happy to have made the decision to buy one of the last
stock cars in Germany. Out of the fear of the F-Type future. And as new 40k Euro under catalog price. In Germany dealers
have the use of what they name "Tageszulassung" means immatriculation for only one day, where they get better volume
conditions from the carmakers and are out of surprise by EU regulations. But this also force them to sell it in the left over
time before the next generation.

Some would; there is a bit of confirmation bias with anything and then there is just getting used to stuff.......but I have no dog in this fight and my comment is based on my perception of the beauty of the design. The F type used to look special IMO, this new design doesn't. JMHO
