I must say, my MY20 is louder, and even in idle already. So first real MY21 car and no showcar with faked sound.
This silence is sure not only from DPF/OPF but as our tuning guy told, a new exhaust to make it more quiet.
It's a pity, but Jaguar is here not guilty, they just follow the every year improving restrictions. And seems that they
have no designer for sound anymore.

Unfortunately every car manufacturer has to comply to the new noise regulations in the EU at least. It's not just the OPF, the valves have to be closed in various situations, even in Dynamic. They only open completely after about 4000rpm.

How is the sound in yours with the new exhaust? I noticed that the p300 in my wife's car gets the grumbles and snorts going in overrun, sounds pretty good.

that truck load of yellow cars went to portugal for the journo launch event - they are all euro specs with the neutered exhaust

US, and possibly australia (waiting on confirmation irl) should get the full noise as they aren't part of the wltp

there is an embargo til feb 9th, then we'll see all the usual vloggers drop their videos on youtube enmasse

as has been suggested in the other noise thread, this particular vehicle is most likely an export spec (non-euro)

Actually I quite like the sound but should be louder. It doesnt have the raspy noise I am not keen on.

i have a warehouse full of euro and US v8's but the f-type's is a very distinct noise - a dirty american style v8 noise with a hint of euro smoothness, and i love that uniqueness

for me no full noise, no bueno, which is killing me atm because i've convinced myself all that new tech will be great to have in a daily and really freshen the car up - there's nothing comparable on the market for similar money

Hmmm, yeah we have the new tech in the 2020 XE and actually I think it is harder to use than the decent 2016/17 setup, or at least it is for me. That said, it is nice having it. But when I had my XKR and we got the '16 XE, I would go from the XE to the XKR and think "f@%+ I cant stand this piece of **** infotainment" which resulted a few months later in my getting the F Type, whereas when I drive the XE I enjoy it while I am in it, it is very lovely and classy, but I dont get into my car and think "Gee I wish I had a digital dash" or "my life would be so much more complete if I had 10 inches instead of 8" (well actually I do think the latter, but not when I am comparing stereos).

I would say that the surround sound system in the XE absolutely craps on anything I have heard in any other Jag, but there is cabin shape to figure in to that equation as well.

All of that said I do really like the new shape and the new noise is fine for me too, I would be inclined to look in a few years as you are right in saying nothing comes close to ticking all the boxes for the $$.

There is still a heavy layer of fog over this quiet start mode. The car seems to have always the valve button. Means when you push it after engine start, nothing happens till you reach 4000, and thanks to JLR you have good relations with your neighbours.
At this point, the button led is nothing else as an ambient light upgrade. But in former posts this function was descripted as an option. What we know is that the car also should have a quieter muffler.

I think we’ll have to wait for more hands on reviews and different audio recording scenarios. It’s always hard to tell from a single video and without some side by side comparisons. That being said...I sure hope we don’t lose the crackle/pops and the aggressive sound.

It takes until the 4 minute mark for them to explain the car has been made quieter to protect you from being an ******.

Has Jaguar been taken over by passive aggressive sportscar haters who are completely out of touch with their heritage?

P. S. The new front end is a significant downgrade for my eye. The new taillights could be GM or Ford. It seems like Jaguar's heart is no longer in this car.

yep starting to watch all the reviews come in

there's 4 in my youtube feed atm

consensus is less crackle, tighter control of exhaust valve when not manually opened

tbh i don't think i'm mad at less crackle, this is the world we live in now, not sure about you guys, but where i live i can actually feel in the public ether a disdain towards loud cars - as long as all the noise is there when im stringing corners together in the hills for fun, i'm cool with it

what this does do is allow for aftermarket to come in and make some ground - an oe map with just more crackle would sell pretty well i'd imagine (not everyone wants added power or the argumentative increase in unreliability that brings)

Sutcliffe's review is one worth watching

We know it has all the chassis updates from the SVR and more, but what really interests me are his comments around the steering being lighter - this is something i have found too, the steering feels artificially heavy in regular mode, and gives the impression the front end change of direction is slower and more cumbersome than it should be

Seriously, I think they become aware in JLR that they got a serious image problem. When it was asked to put a particle filter on the cars, they were about the first to point the finger, as Porsche and other came only later. Perhaps time for a new stereo installation, Meridian Exhaust.

It's interesting that he lists the non-dated cars as the 1963 Porsche 911, the 1958 Chevy Corvette, the 2006 Audi R8. None of those cars have ever looked as good as a 2014-2020 F-Type, including the C8 which is immediately recognizable as a GM styling effort, unlike the C7.
