It's enough of a fun gimmick I think I am all in here.
Anyone that has done these... do they ever get annoying for any reason?

I think they add a subtle touch, but the few times I have been out at night, I don't really pay much attention; usually just get in and out and more worried about making sure I have my wallet and phone. To me, its like black badges - just something you either like or don't like. I've never been a fan of chrome, but I also don't think everything needs to be blacked out - but after seeing the black, I thought they went well with the black pack and the exterior color. That said, I don't find the lights to be a distraction at all and its a cheap enough thing that you can remove if you don't like.

Eh I feel like one of them has dimmed and light is leaking around the edges of the image, but its not a reason not to try them out. It's more of a... you get what you pay for caveat.

Don't think so. During the day, you really can't see them. And in the evening, you open the door and then realize...Oh yeah, I have those Jaguar puddle lights

Otherwise....never notice or think about them honestly.

I've fitted two sets so far, the "growler" type with red surround like the grille emblem.
Both were only some $20 AU.
But you do get what you pay for, in both cases the red has gradually faded away until it's completely gone.
That's why I bought the second set, hoping they were better quality and the red wouldn't fade but they turned out to be just as bad as the first set.

Just installed mine today. They shipped faster than I expected. I had to cut tabs out as well, though mine were much smaller. I'm pleased with the result. Even if they only last ~6 months, I think they look cool.

I like them. This is the type I got from Raymax. I've had others for my daughter's car off of Amazon. The ones with color always fade out, but her white ones haven't failed in a couple years.

Mine just came in today, excited to put them in. A little worried about hearing you have to cut tabs.

I will update with how they look soon!
Thanks everyone for the advice.

I dug up a photo from when I first installed mine. It’s not imagination, they have definitely degraded. They’ve been installed for a bit over a year, and I don’t drive very much, maybe 4K miles?

Heres a comparison of new vs 1 yr later:

+1. They’re actually more functional for their intended purpose after they’ve been broken in.

What causes the change? It’s not like they get sunlight UV degraded.

It's like a screen print on the projection lens and the heat deteriorates it.

Or improves it, depending on your point of view!

So, once the beam fades to the desired level, it's time to install LED bulbs?

When new the edges of the image were sharp giving the logo that laser-like look. Downside was that they did little to, you know, illuminate puddles.

I’ve got a bunch of led bulbs from when I swapped out the footwell lights, I’ll put those into the oem puddle lamps next and see what I think.

BTW the aftermarket puddle lights *are* LEDs. They still get pretty hot and that’s what degrades the image.
