Default New Owner 2021 F Type R

Just picked up my new 2021 F Type R and so far (84 miles driven) the car feels great and the look, of course (!!) is outstanding. I previously bought a 2018 (same model) and wound up trading it on a new Z06 Corvette in 2019. Loved the power and the sound of the Z06, but the ride and the look couldn't match up to the Type R...besides that, my wife missed the Jag, so here I am, back with the new Type R! So far I like everything about the car with one exception...they really did neuter the exhaust sound in this new model. I've searched around the internet to see if any suppliers or companies have different mufflers, or high flow Cats, or whatever they might have, that can give the car a little more exhaust sound. This is a beautiful car with a reasonably high horsepower engine (575 HP) and that exhaust system should speak with an attitude, not like the 4 cylinder supercharged engine in my Mercedes (250 HP)! Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

Welcome to the cool club!! Others know better than me...but I think there is a way to make the newer models exhaust louder?

I've read that the exhaust does get louder as it breaks in, although it'll never be as raucous as the early models.

It may have been my imagination but my exhaust seemed to get louder once I hit a thousand miles.

Much of the noise (pops and crackles) is computer controlled by the tune, not on the exhaust itself. So you can add a tune that puts those back (I expect VAP can accomplish that) but guessing you prob don't want to tune a brand new car?

Aging does help a bit - give it a couple of thousand miles and see what happens.

Congratulations on your new 2021 F Type. I purchased my 2021 approximately 9 months ago and now have 4K miles on the clock. This is my third F Type which follows a 2015 S and a 2017 R. The exhaust notes when the 2021 was new were comparatively quite to the previous mentioned ones. However, the exhaust is now significantly louder, especially in dynamic mode.

On a personal note, the loud exhaust at start-up with the older models was obnoxious. Add to that, the constant pops and crackles overtime was a bit much. The new 2021 with the redesigned suspension, increased horsepower and improved infotainment has really refined the cat. The exhaust is plenty loud when I want that rush. As for the other times I can simply enjoy the performance and the agility.

Enjoy...

Congratulations! I also have a 2021 F-type R, now 3 months in, about 1500 miles on it, I haven't noticed any louder sound, I really hope it gets louder after a few more thousand miles

Congratulations. I took a look at the online inventory yesterday and saw a couple of 2021 F Type R models now in stock. Both had build dates of February 2021 so they must be fresh off the boat.
My F Type R is supposed to be built this week, so I am hoping that I see it by the first week of June.

I get it and for me it was at first very "exhilarating" however, I guess as I get older my taste and style has changed. Just feeling a bit more understated days...

I love my '21. I am sure you will love yours too.

To get the fun cold start, try this.

When you get in, keep your foot off the brake and press start. Then tun off start-stop and turn on active exhaust.

Now put your foot on the brake and then press start. Let us know if you like that better.

Thanks for the responses. What I was hoping for was maybe a different muffler group or high flow cats that would open the system up a bit. Guess no one has anything like that for the F type R. Oh well, I'll wait to see in time if the system flows better and gets a little louder.

velocityap makes both high flow cats and exhaust systems for the f type..

my svr is tuned with the 200 cell downpipes, and it sounds like literal hellfire.
