Default New Owner Questions-

Just bought my first real sports car, 2014 base Convert. Only had 3200 miles on it. Been really happy with it. It has even helped me close a huge deal by allowing the the client to drive it. He was giggling like a little girl the whole time. Love it!

I am wondering where to buy the lip / lower valance -- you know.. the one that gets ate up from pulling in driveways, etc. I am not even sure what terms to search for. It seems to be a piece that I will be replacing frequently.

Also.. the buzzing or fan noise when the car is on, but engine off from behind the drivers seat, possibly in the trunk. I am assuming it is some kind of fan for the batteries.

Congrats!

I'm not sure what you're noise referring to, but a number of systems are running, such as HVAC, when power is on but the engine not started. Sometimes, it's difficult for the ear to locate exactly where a particular noise is coming from inside a vehicle cabin.

I've explored under the trunk panels extensively, and I never seen a fan back there, certainly not for the battery.

I've been wondering the same thing. Sounds like feint fan sound coming from just behind the rear bulkhead trim panels that are behind the seats. It runs for a few minutes after the car is shut down. Can't be heard from the boot area.

Congratulations on the car, I still giggle every time I drive it and I have had it for almost a year now.

I have never heard the noise you are referring to in my car.

I don't know if the same trim piece is in the convertible version, but in the coupe you can remove the trim in front of the centre cubby box and access the rear bulkhead. Just pull the top away and lift the bottom off the locating holes. There is a module that is part of the audio system at the base (it's what you plug you iPod into) which may have a fan. Even if it is not that it might help you to narrow the location down as the sound occurs with the car parked.

I hear the same thing after shut down. Never worried about it, and never looked for the source.

I hear a pump sound sometimes from about that location. If you drive fast enough, it disappears

Could it be the fuel pump?

I don't think so. That is louder and comes on as soon as a door is opened. Also turns off immediately after the ignition is turned off.

I know this is an older thread.. But the sound is an aux vacuum pump for the exhaust dynamic switch.
