Personally I think it is a good car, and the performance against the 5.0 or 4.2 XK wouldnt be wanting (except the 4.2 sound is incredible, you dont get that with the p300). I'd drive it before making a decision.

Kongo, if you’re serious about buying an F-Type, do try out a P300.

There's a lot of genuine P300 haters on faceboo, which is sad as few, if any have given the car a chance, much less drive one.
Mine is a daily driver and RELIABILITY is key in this case.
I was fortunate to fixate on a 2021 facelift/infotainment updated FIRST EDITION, loaded with an MSRP of $80,725 - she has all the trimmings, including the 20" wheels.
This car had 6,000 miles on the clock when I bought her last year - still under warranty
Added a Ragazzon exhaust and a set of Michelins. - WOW
The difference in weight distribution really does have a big effect on handling.
We did TAIL OF THE DRAGON last fall - OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE !
Wind her up and she really performs, but don't expect to be pushed back in your seat when you floor it at 95 MPH
Guess I'll never find out if she's a corvette killer at a stoplight, and we're not hitting the dragstrip anytime soon.
She's just a fun car to drive, more of a sports car than a supercar.
Here's another interesting couple of reviews.

I did a good deal of research before buying this car.
Had NO INTENTION of having anything to do with the 4 banger, but there was a 2021 FIRST EDITION at the Jag dealership (wrong color), so I took the opportunity to take it for a test drive.
That was all she wrote.
Found the right color and right mileage in Baltimore, MD and hopped on a plane !

Thunderjet,
You are reading my mind. I love the look of the f-type but reliability is my first priority.
The same priority as when I bought the XK coming from a 96 x300 for the previous 7 years,
The 300 HP 4.2 na XK is plenty of get up and go for me and after 5 years and 30k miles with it needing nothing, I am thrilled with my decision and I'm sure I would feel the same about the 300 horsepower
F-Type if it had the same reliability. I am fine keeping the XK but am passively looking for the right portofino blue p300 coupe with a sienna interior. The only thing I differ from you on is that I would prefer 19 inch wheels.

All I can add is that there are no supercharger mechanical or cooling issues to deal with. Engine access good, too.

[QUOTE=stirlingsilver;2729244]But you do have turbochargers to worry about instead. And of course engine access is good - the bay is designed for a "proper" engine"

No transfer case/extra differential/axles/joints makes for less wear/fail items, less curb weight and BETTER WEIGHT DISTRUBUTION !
no rusted in fuel injectors
no supercharger coupler issues.
Not any better or worse, simply a DIFFERENT BREED OF CAT
For me, for a DAILY DRIVER not in a garage, it's my best choice.

The F-Type 2.0 liter has a single, twin scroll turbocharger that spins on ceramic bearings.
I heard mention of turbo problems with the diesel Ingenium engine, but I presume that was a different turbocharger. If anyone has any more information on this, please share.

How Jaguar optimized the Ingenium gas engine for the F-Type

I did a whole lot of research before choosing the P300
CERTAINLY NOT THE RODNEY DANGERFIELD OF SPORTS CARS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I bought the 2021 First Edition P300, I thought ......maybe drive it for a year then see if you really want a 380 six or a 450 eight.
So many folks poke fun at the P300.....
Well, I'm staying with her.
She has a UNIQUE personality !
