New XK / F-Type 2+2 coming?

+1 on all counts. The F-Type 2+2 GT concept is a very attractive car, but from an access, convenience and comfort standpoint will not appeal to anyone needing a real 4 seater. I suspect that Jag will be very disappointed if they expect to drive any significant sales volume with such a model.

Arent they calling the Ftype 2+2 a Fpace?
By the time you raise the roof line in the rear to accommodate anything other than an infant, use the newer Jaguar powertrains, and account for the fact that everyone else is cutting back on the production of cars- you are left with an Fpace.
As another dyed in the wool FJ40 owner. I find something quite egregious, the main body line (bisector) of newer utility vehicles, namely Range Rover is steeply sloped to resemble a sports car. Like a muscular crossdresser, it not entirely convincing of either.

Audi has also done it with their RS7 which is actually faster than the Panamera & BMW did a 4-door 6-series with their coupe so if Jag wants to go that way, they need to do it as a 4-door performance car. In theory they could deep-6 the XE & XF platforms and replace them with a 4-door XK rather than a 2-door 2+2 that has been proven to be fruitless
Not only the exterior as this Porsche's ugly is more than skin deep. The column of buttons in the center is a cancer living beneath the skin as well..LOL
Of course not, the F-Pace competes with the Porsche SUV & as pointed out the RS7 & Panamera's and BMW 6-series Grand Coupe all enable adults to sit in the back seat and still provide a coupe-style slopes rear window. Granted, the Porsche variant is ugly as can be but the RS & GC are both nice looking options. Perhaps your just trying to be humorous but forgot to include the sarcasm emoji?
The article was "spot on" however as the last paragraph was clear in why the XK was killed as well as clarified why the 2+2 will NOT be built...

"However, with design work on the XK complete, and the F-Type launched in 2013, Callum said marketers at Jaguar believed the XK was no longer needed. The F-Type, they thought, filled the role of a sporting, performance Jaguar in the range and engineering work on the XK never commenced."

Same as Australia and the UK. Personally I'd rather an XF or XE SVR to an F Pace SVR, but over here the F Pace SVR will cost less than my F Type S did, and also the SUVs usually have a smaller footprint than the big sedans with more room inside so they can be easier to fit in car spaces but be pretty practical (wash my mouth out with soap) too. I think the F Pace SVR will be my next car if I tire of the F Type, I have an obsession for quilted seats that must scratch and this one has them plus the V8, I only wish it had the F type/e Pace dash/console layout as it is more prestige looking than that of the F Pace

The concept of a Sedan is rather a retarded one; take a 2-seater sports car and add 2 additional cramped seats. Alternatively, the Range Rover invented category, have 4 luxury seats with no compromise whatsoever, other than aerodynamics- which is easily trumped with utility.
The line has been drawn, there will be sports cars and the rest that qualify for Uber cabs. Thank God, it was unfair of the midlife crisis dads muddying the waters with their confused existence.

That's why the BMW i8 is on my short list as well as the F Type

I saw an Aston DB11 yesterday which is a 2+2. Beautifully styled car. (Nicer than the i8 I think. They are a challenge to get out of for me). I wasn't able to sit in it but was told it is quite comfortable space wise. Not that the back seats are worth much, but the proportions of the car are spot on. The new panamera dumped the multi button cockpit console and fixed the hump on the rear end. Doesn't hold a candle to the Aston shape. Much like our f type; classic imo. There were 3 Ferraris also in the space, and although beautiful in their own right, the simplicity of styling of the DB11 and our car is design styling at its finest. I wouldn't kick the Ferraris out of my garage though.
