New XK / F-Type 2+2 coming?

Bruce,
If it's just the quilted seats that make you happy, any upholsterer can do diamond stitched quilting on leather for not very much money. Recently, for the restoration of my '72 De Tomaso Pantera, I wanted to upgrade the quality and luxury of the interior including the seats and door panels. I puchased a set of C-4 Corvette seats (the only ones narrow enough to fit in a Pantera tub), purchased black leather, and had my longtime upholsterer do red diamond stitched quilting to the black leather seats, door panels, and firewall. I probably spent less than $1500.00 including purchase of the seats and the leather to do the whole thing. Below are some pics before they were installed.

Guess future SUV models will turn into towers on wheels.

VR46,
As part of the restoration, we transplanted a newly rebuilt 351C that should dyno a bit over 500hp and 550ft.lbs. I have not driven it yet, but it should be crazy. The seats had to be slightly modified on the underside of the base last week in order to keep them low enough so that my head doesn't hit the roof. Little bits of the interior are still being installed. I am hoping within the next 1-2 weeks to bring it home. It already had a monstrous amount of torque, but now with nearly twice the hp and torque figures, it should be positively frightening! Pictures coming as soon as the big cat comes home.
I see you've got a 500hp "Cobra," so you already know how explosive a lightweight car with that kind of power can be.

A 2+2 of any sports car scares me. I think of the E-Type 2+2. IMO it looked about 9 1/2 months pregnant. Leave the 4 seat to non-sports cars, ie. sports sedans and up.
Land Rover should stick with the truck line. They overlap into the Jaguar line where the F-Pace is, but do a great job with trucks. But then they haven't asked be for my advice yet on production plans, and I am still waiting patiently by my phone for that call from Ian for styling advice also......

SamtheSham,
Wow, you sure that your friend's 351 was just "slightly" modified? And Webbers really are impressive looking in the engine bay, but what originally started my restoration was that I was never driving the car because if I didn't drive it every few days, I would have to pull the air cleaner and dump gas into the carb to get it to fire. It was a pain in the ****! So I took it in originally just to change it to the Holley fuel injection system so that I would drive it a little more often. That led to the new engine, new interior, new headers and exhaust, new paint (although the paint was in excellent condition prior to the respray), new flush window glass, new cooling fans, and new A/C. It's funny how that happens once you start down that road. My whole goal was to make it more driveable, not necessarily quicker, but the built 351C just happened to come along, and the rest is history.
I am losing my patience, but I have vowed to myself that I'm picking the car up before Father's Day, finished or not!

I doubt he will bring anything to JLR, Ford's culture has been toxic to every company its ever touched, including Ford, thus them going back to their roots of making the Model T variants, aka F150 etc.
He may however be able to shift gears and allow JLR's culture to bring out his best. Time will tell, and first we have to detox him, which will take some time.
