New XK - Replaces F-Type?
As the new owner of a 2015 F-type and new to the forums, I saw some talk of a 2021 XK replacing the F-Type.
I looked for the picture and saw this rendering of the front grill, and it looked SO familiar... then I remembered what the face looked like.
For those who love it, my apologies. Even so, the resemblance is uncanny.
Please don't ban me, I am brand new and have an admittedly sarcastic outlook on life.

Yeah, I didn't mean 'rendering' like 'artists conception drawing'.... probably shoulda just used "picture"
Here is the site; but i see your point, maybe someone can find the correct picture ....
https://www.motor1.com/news/183716/j...dering-new-xk/
Better in blue, maybe. Or black.
Anyway I was certain I couldn't make anyone mad at me for a car that was 2 years away. Now I may have angered some owners of the 2012's ....
Someone once said my 911 looked like an upside down bathtub...

"If Jaguar does decide to reintroduce the XK to the lineup, the new 2+2 would be built alongside the next-generation F-Type"
That doesn't sound like its the next gen F-Type. Why Jaguar is doing a next gen F-Type is a mystery to me. Very few "normal" people in America know the F-Type exists. People ask me all the time, "what is that?" "OMG that's the prettiest car I've ever seen what is it" and so on. I think it was a huge mistake not to continue the CX16 as a Jag halo car. It would have put them on the map in the US. Jaguar is an unknown brand among millennials and younger. The only exposure they might have is Scotty Kilmer ragging on 40 year old Jaguars. Scotty doesn't know the F-Type exists either.

I’ve owned both an XKR and F-type. The F-type is by far the sexiest Jag in production, had been in production, and will go down as the sexiest in history. Of course that’s just my opinion. I told my wife I want to be buried in my F-Type, either in it, or as part of it because they couldn’t scrape enough of me off it...lol

Fresh from a tour of the FType production line...saw close up a 2021 front hood/bonnet. Grill opening changed to taller oval ,not as wide and the two vents moved from the top of the hood to angled positions just back from the front. Didn’t appeal to me. Told not to scoect any other body changes .
Apparently a straight 6 ....saw one installed in a 2021 going along the assembly line through racks of “on time “ parts, hoses, cables etc....ie: not a clear view at all.
Photos strictly prohibited.
Seeing the huge moulds it is more clear to me that any change in sheet metal, has a huge cost ....thus cosmetic change is easy. To do a four seater FType would cost serious ££££££?
ps: if you have a chance to see a car being built.....do it ! Significant difference between the FType line and Morgan...think centuries.

The F type line actually reminded me of the Morgan line !
Both very much hands on.

Those tours sound great.
in 2014, How It’s Made did an episode on the F-type. Some great stuff there, about 20 minutes long.

One outstanding difference for me was the Morgan guy with knee pads getting up / down repeatedly fitting the wiring up the front wheel well on his back on the floor and the Jag guy taking a heated hockey bag sized bag of wiring loom from an “on time” trolley and installing it at waist level....
i agree though the FType line had more humans than robots.....don’t recall any robots at Morgan. They did though have a nifty looking portable 1 post lift, just outside the last factory entrance....who knows when it will be put into service.
Both fascinating.

If an XK replacement ever comes, I doubt it would be midengined as the packaging isn't as efficient for what is really a GT car, not a sports car. It's tough to get a set of golf clubs and luggage into a midengined car, although I've done it in my Pantera as there's a huge luggage tray area that sits on top of the transaxle. Now a future F-type replacement where it's all about performance would be the place for a midengine redesign. After all, how much less storage space could you have than the current convertible's?

I'd guess a future F-Type replacement would have a massive battery in the underfloor and have electric motors driving the axles. Nice low centre/center of gravity, shame about the noise, though.
