Default Nexpeak NC175 Battery Charger/Maintainer

I did what many on the forum did when they got an F-Type. I purchased the CTEK MKS 5 battery charger/maintainer. It worked flawlessly until several months ago. There were thunderstorms in the area so I unplugged the CTEK from the outlet but left it connected to the car as I intended to plug it back in when the storms passed. Well the storms passed and I forgot to plug it back in. Next time I went out the CTEK ended up under one of the P-Zeros. The CTEK is well built but it did not withstand that.

Before I ran out and purchased another CTEK I decided to look around and see what other charger/maintainers were available. I found the Nexpeak NC175 and decided to give it a try.

The Nexpeak has three modes standard, repair and trickle. It features 7-stage charging. It provides a lot of feedback on what it is doing. It lists the voltage of the battery and the voltage and amperage it is using to charge the battery at the time.

Thus far I have only used it in the trickle mode. It fully charges the battery and then switches off. It then monitors the battery and turns back on when the voltage drops. Thus far it has worked as described.

It is rated at 4.5 stars on Amazon with 2,600 reviews. The CTEK is rated 4.7 stars with 5,500 reviews.

The only drawback I have noticed is that when it is first plugged in it defaults to the standard charge mode. You have to press the mode button to change it to trickle mode. There is also no dedicated AGM mode.

Apparently it is sold all over the world. The bottom of the box indicates that is is available with electrical plugs for: AU, US, EU, JP and UK.

The best part is the price. It costs $20. I have seen it with Prime for $15.

I do not think you should use that on an AGM battery.
Their charging characteristics are different and a non-AGM charger can actually damage the battery.

It is a smart charger. While it does not have a dedicated AGM mode it is compatible with AGM batteries. See feature description below.

I am not sure I would trust that (Chinese) description.
Even 15 years ago, my boat "smart charger" had a dedicated AGM charge function.
Either way, hope it is OK
FWIW, I just returned a 4.5AmpHr 40V (Chinese) battery to Ebay that performed no better than an 8 year old 1.5AmpHr battery
