No lock on fuel filler cap
#81
K. My two cents. It's in the Manual therefore it should be installed on the car. Period. End of story. This is America filled with all kinds of people who may want to pour a can of coke into the tank. Not a good thing. BS if you ask me. My brother has a 911 and I bet his locks. Can't wait to ask him. Will discuss with the dealer.

Yes, one of those is available for those who feel it is essential. You can discuss that with your dealer, but otherwise it will be a short conversation, since there isn't anything a franchisee can do about it.

My Issues
My issues are that the dealerships weren't told that this wouldn't be on our cars and the literature says it is. In my car they didn't even cap the hole where it was supposed to be installed. If you are going to sell a car that costs into 6 figures (and mine did) you don't remove a feature and then not tell anyone until after the customers discover it. Now, once discovered, Jaguar should make it right and that means offering a locking gas cap for free if we want one. (I don't really) Is it a big thing? No, but their handling of it stands in sharp contrast to the customer centric new company image they are trying to establish. I'm sure it is some Tata executive someplace that is in the process and should be fired because generally I've been otherwise happy with the car and my treatment. But every time I get gas I'm reminded that someone in Jaguar is a dick.

Www.petrocaps.co.uk has locking F type caps for about $25. I'm gonna try to pick one up in London. Or just order it. I actually prefer the lock so some idiot doesn't do $1000 worth of damage prying open the flap.

The locking door on virtually all vehicles is ridiculously easy to defeat with a screwdriver, butter knife, or any number of common implements, and that will cause body/paint damage.

Fuel theft with a siphon is virtually impossible. Try getting a tube down into the tank in any car. But vandalism is still a possibility now that the word is out on F Types. I suppose one hears nothing about it because all cars have locking caps or lids. Yes, easily defeated with a screw driver but that requires planning.
