Default noise from the seatbelt housing? coupe

Preface: This is a small issue, and I'm enjoying the car too much to give it back to the dealer to sort out so soon after buying it.

When riding on rough pavement there is a "tink tink tink" sound coming from directly over my left shoulder. I think it comes from behind the panel where the seatbelt shoulder strap is housed. I have heard the same sound coming from the passenger side of the car but obviously can't localize it as well, and it happens less often.

My assumption is that there is some wiring in there that isn't taped down well. Any ideas? Is it easy to get in there myself and take a peek?

See the thread below. There's a sound recording in post #7 and the fix is described in post #11. Others have thought it was the seatbelt area as well, but it's not. At any rate, sounds exactly like what you described above, and it's not a rattling hatch cover either.

Also discussed here:

I had it on my '15 Base Coupe and also have it on my new '16 R Coupe. It's a little annoying, but I am waiting until my first service to have it addressed. It sounds like the same issue that OzRisk had.

Yes, and the same fix in the B-pillar area worked for OzRisk. That also explains the sound emanating from the shoulder harness assembly.

I hear it occasionally as well, but not all the time, only a lower speeds with the top up. It seems to be temperature-related, and I also only hear it when it's cold out. That makes some sense with parts expanding at higher temps. I've decided it's rare enough, and not noticeable enough to worry about getting it addressed.

Thanks Foosh. Mine is not nearly as aggressive as in the recording from the other thread, but it definitely could be the same noise.
