Default OBD tool?

Coming from the world of antique British cars, I suppose I should add a tool to my collection for my modern F-Type. Are there any suggestions on a specific tool I should have to read codes? Where is the connection/port?
I don’t like cheap tools, but I won’t be using it every day, either.

I use the iCarsoft LRII tool. I does everything I've needed, and the customer service was excellent when I ran into a problem getting the ebrake into maintenance mode.

Looks like they have version 3.0 of it out, that also does TPMS and a few other useful things.

Their FAQ said the brand-specific ones have more detailed features that the multi-brand ones do not, so this JLR one is more useful than the "professional" multi-brand one they offer.

Looks valuable, ordered one. Thanks @yostra !

Don't purchase the Blue Driver it fires off a parasitic load from the car which cannot be unloaded without disconnecting the car battery.

I have the OBD2 code reader scanner that fits inside the glove compartment just right. My purpose is if I get an Engine Light while driving on the road, I can stop somewhere safer and scan the code using the reader on the spot. I have now the option to continue driving or call the tow truck. I also have a Wi-Fi Android dongle adapter for my Ford Escape that is also inside the glove compartment, intended with the same purpose as the one I have on my Jaguar.
Here's the picture.
