Also, I just checked out the Eurotoys site and it definitely says idler puller not tensioner pulley, and the VAP site doesn't mention either any more (ie no pulley change needed), so it seems my theory about needing to swap the lower idler pulley for a smooth one to work with the single sided belt may be correct.
Yes, it was definitely the idler that I first changed to a smooth one and then back again to ribbed when the correct sized two-sided belt became available.
Regarding the lower pulley, the Eurotoys pulley (1 lb) is about 5 or 6 lbs lighter than the metallic colored OEM pulley.

Just back to the smell in the car after the work was done, it was still hanging around for a month notwithstanding a cleanout, in the end I gave it another clean inside and then cut up a lemon and left it in the car in a bowl, the smell went within a day though I have left the lemon in there for a few days and give the pieces a squeeze every so often because I like the smell on my fingers (and hope that no one sees me sniffing my fingers at lights).

It could be worse Bruce.

You did bathe during that month, right?

It actually reminded me of another Seinfeld episode where he had a valet take his car and then the BO smell wouldnt get out of it. I didnt know whether the smell was from the engine work or from a mechanic's clothes

Bruce, I actually located a number of those clips from exactly that episode, almost instantly after posting “the pick”—and watched them all—but thought against posting it since this is a car Forum and I veer astray often enough that I do try to police myself now and then.

There are very very few things in life which weren’t covered in Seinfeld. (It also helped ever-so-slightly to be a New York City Jew—more so the New York part—as there were occasional references which only a New Yorker would know.)

Best regards,
Cosmo52

Haha, since it is my own thread I will veer a bit, we use Seinfeld analogies all the time (my kids do the same with Family Guy). We had at work and employee who adopted the George practise of looking angry all the time when actually doing not very much at all, I think as a strategy it has a very high success rate until the person goes on holidays and you realise that they are doing nothing.

So in other words, he wasn’t Penske material?

Yeah, I did think that [that it’s your thread so we can do what we want, right?] Need further proof that everything, every day, is a Seinfeld episode?

My wife and I just arrived back home after attending a VERY upscale 40th birthday party for a friend. Beautiful people, dressed beautifully, beautiful ocean-front house, etc.—and have you been to the Motor Vehicle Bureau lately? (Are you keeping up with me Bruce?)—and there was some guy wearing a cape! And this wasn’t a joke and it wasn’t Halloween. Who wears a cape...any where?!!!

Best regards,
Cosmo52

Oh boy.

1) I think it’s Divine.
2) This thread is ready to really go off the rails. (And the spirit of John Waters lives on...as does he.)
3) Bruce, it’s your thread. Put a stop to this before U proceeds further! He’s not Unhingd for nothing.

P.S. As long as you weren’t “dressed up”, I can relax my mind.
