I made a trip with my son, who has his license since 5 months when we left. We did 7500km in 20 days.

We wanted to do all high mountain passes in continentel SW-Europe...

But we only did about 30% since most were closed due to avalanche risk, some still aren't open !
This is the first time in 89 years, since they started recording this in Switserland..

Attersee

Austria, north of Zell am See.

Lukmanier, central Switzerland

Lago Maggiore

French Pyrenees, along the Spanish border. North-East of Sainte Jean de Pied de Porte.

Central France.

Aubreville near Verdun. A rare old-fashioned French Hotel-Restaurant-Bar. Excellent food, rooms are clean but really oldy-worldy...

Those are not seagulls...they're Klingon Birds of Prey.

I could say the same about those fake mountains and lakes in your pictures! STUNNING photos, by the way!

I did think it quite fortuitous that those seagulls should come flying by when I took that shot and even if I had wanted to photoshop them in, I wouldn’t know how to do that.

Cheers!

So just noozy seagulls then..

But you're near Scotland, so plenty nice roads there too.. .. will come and have a look one day !

The pics are not that difficult : just shoot and with so many mountains its always OK..

Beautiful pictures, Dan. I have to believe you and your son had a great experience.
That one pic of the Pyrenees reminds me of the road to the summit of Mt. Washington, NH--no guardrails, shear drops, butt squeezing places where two cars barely pass.

it's an old photo from the first six months I had the car but I've always loved it. This is how Cape Cod used to be and in some moments, still is.

Can you explain your Cape Cod comment? I'm assuming no longer cozy and quaint?

In my experience it can still be cozy and quaint, but not in the summer when literally millions of tourists descend upon the place

I grew up there. Some of it has gotten too overdeveloped and is very crowded, but places like this off the beaten track are still possible to find. Also the chain stores have started to put places like this in peril. Nothing against the chains but there is something to be said for small and effective.

It’s gotten so popular that even Great Whites are moving in.
