I personally like the look of the spoiler, won't get one myself because I also like the fact ours retracts, but I do think the spoiler blends well with the lines and look of the car. Then again I'm kind of a huge fan of mods anyway. I think people should make their cars uniquely there own and certainly live that credo. Anyway, my 6 cents is I like it.

It's all a matter of taste.... However, the guys at Special Vehicle Operations clearly disagree with you since they made this very same deployable carbon wing standard equipment on the SVR

Thanks for the comments. Actually I erroneously called it a spoiler - but it isn't a spoiler, it's a wing (upside-down wing). Like the standard spoiler, it deploys (tilts) at 95kmh and moves back to the position on the first photo when the speed drops under 60kmh. Us in Europe can also choose to have it deployed at all times during driving and stillstand (I believe the US model has a cleaning position but cannot be permanently deployed while on the move?).

I do believe it is a spoiler, just like all the other F-Type spoilers (coupe and Vert). The cross section does not appear to be an airfoil, but rather a consistent thickness fore to aft (just curved upward toward the rear).

I quite like it. Unlike virtually everyone else, I'n not a lover of the tail of the F Type. Hips maybe, tail no. The wing/spoiler takes my eye away from the protruding lip which is more prominent looking with the centre exhaust.

Its an inverted wing alright, with aerofoil cross-sectional shape, see attached photos and a screenshot from the 2017 MY brochure explaining the effect of the upside-down wing. According to the SVO guys, it brings a drag coefficient improvement of 7,5 % and a lift coefficient reduction of 45% ("stowed") and 2,5% and 15% (deployed) - see brochure screenshot. The F-type really needs all de improved aero on the rear end that it can get since the lift at the rear end at speed is so significant that an error signal from the wing actuator will cause the ECU to limit the speed of the vehicle to 215 km/h (133 mph)!!! Moreover, when opting for the wing delete on the SVR coupe the top speed is reduced from 200 mph to 185mph, which again shows that the wing is not just a decorative item.
My main reason for installing it was the significant reduction in the lift coefficient to get better grip at the rear end in fast curves and my well-calibrated popometer clearly detected a significant improvement :-) On top of that, I was positively surprised by the looks after the install, especially in real life on the road this wing gives the car a more exclusive presence.

I've been 172 mph in my car with the stock deployable spoiler. No error message here!

I did not intent to say that exceeding133 mph will give an error message if you have the deployable spoiler and not the wing. Let me rephrase: The car is limited to 133 mph ONlLY if the ECU receives a signal from the spoiler actuator that the spoiler cannot be deployed. I assume that your spoiler was deployed and there was no spoiler deployment error message when you had your 172 mph fun so it all makes sense.
So much for spoiler deployment error.
Regarding having a wing or a spoiler: The SVR is limited to 185 mph when it has been fitted (buyer choice) from factory with the deployable spoiler instead of the ”standard” deployable wing (with the deployable wing fitted from factory the top speed of the SVR is 200 mph). I mentioned this to illustrate that the wing has a real effect and is not purely ornamental. I did not intend to say that the F-type cannot exceed 133 mph WO the wing.

I didn't think you did say that - you clearly stated that the limit was only when the spoiler system was faulty.

Point is.
That member SCM is stating " you clearly stated that the limit was only when the spoiler system was faulty".
In which you did not, thus the reason I posted that I've been 172 mph in my car with the stock spoiler. When I quoted SCM I put your post in there and circled the part where you say it limits your speed to 133 mph, nothing about a faulty spoiler. So I laughed in his post because you never said that.
You did correct yourself in the post to me, all good! However then that member posted that, so I thought it was funny.
Get it now?

Ah, I see the bit you missed from the original post:
"... the lift at the rear end at speed is so significant that an error signal from the wing actuator will cause the ECU to limit the speed of the vehicle to 215 km/h (133 mph)"

Note the words "error signal from the wing actuator" clearly stating the system is faulty.

Alright, let's allow this threat to go back to its intended purpose of enjoying pictures of the fantastic F-type

Listen guys I'm not trying to start any fuss. I took @F-Type-Type post as the car wouldn't exceed 133 mph with the stock spoiler. In which I have been over 170 in my car with the stock deployable spoiler. So if I took it wrong my deepest apologies, didn't mean to upset anybody.

I'll be done on this petty matter now but I just want to point out one thing.
* Note that he says WILL CAUSE !
To me that means it is going to happen, not could happen.
Enough said - carry on!

Agreed. If there's a fault in the wing actuator system.
