Oil Consumption
#21
Just an update... spoke to my service advisor today and he stated that my oil consumption was within spec, especially for new break in. He also told me that the Rolls Royce Ghost uses "Much" more oil and is still considered within spec.
I'll continue to watch consumption. Hopefully it will be less as the engine is through the break in period.
(On a side note, I picked up another quart of oil and was only charged $9.99 this time... I didn't complain at all.)

I would have asked him what the hell a Rolls Royce has to do with a Jaguar, a different company and engine completely.

The dealer sells Rolls, Bentley, Jaguar, and others. It was just a comment that even the super expensive high end cars that people think are "perfect" still burn oil.

I see, I know that Porsche can. I new someone who bought a new 911 Turbo a few years ago and he told me it used about 1 quart per tank of gas and the dealer said that was normal.

Oil consumption must be quite an individual thing - Have racked up just under 3K of running in miles and no change at all on the oil gauge.
If I felt I needed to carry spare oil with a brand new MY16 car, I would feel a bit miffed.
With the amasing tolerances that are achievable with modern engineering, I cannot see why anyone would believe it to be the norm to be consuming oil?
