My 2017 F Type S Coupe's Jaguar extended CPO warranty expires tomorrow and I called my dealer for a quote to extend it again.
The car has 29K miles and is perfect, It has been regularly serviced by Jaguar and over the last three years I have exercised the warrantee several times but for cosmetic issues essentially (badly fitting window trim, Carpet not fitting well). I have had no mechanical issues at all.
They have quoted me $4409.00 for 5 years - bumper to bumper minus brakes tires and rubber. So $880 a year. While this would be inexpensive if there is any serious mechanical issue I am torn because I don't do many miles.
I am ok with rolling the dice that nothing $$$ breaks but I would really appreciate hearing your opinion on the pros and cons. Obviously my car is now 6 years old but I plan on keeping it, currently my cost of ownership has been surprisingly low.
Of course I understand that this is a 'how long is a piece of string" sort of question and there is no correct answer, however your own experiences could be helpful.

I have been thinking about trading my '21 before the warranty expires, perhaps as early as next year, for a 75 model P450 vert.
Considering the likely upcharge for the trade will be in the order of $40K, just extending the warranty on the 2021 model for another 5 years (to 2031??) for $4,400 sounds like a great deal.
I guess downside is you need to get it serviced annually at JLR, though overall I am quite happy with my dealer's service.

As long as you read all their fine print to understand what procedures are not covered, besides the ones you mentioned. $880 a year is not much..what is their shop labor per hour? Figure most anything will be 2 hours. Not many parts could be covered for the remainder to make the $880. And the peace of mind is worth something. Alternatively, you can self insure.. put that sum in a savings account and use it for any repairs that may be needed. You keep what you don't use.

The extended warranty that my JLR dealer recommended was more expensive than others I researched online and had worse reviews. Make sure you read the fine print as others have said and look up the company online and read the reviews before making the decision to purchase.
Also this topic has been brought up on here before, you may want to see what other people have purchased and why.

One more thought you may want to consider.. MY2017 was a transition year for the coolant pipes. My 2017 had the flanged pipes. The engine compartment conditions made it impossible for pipes that were essentially glued at seams to hold together and they seeped or flat out leaked, in many instances corroding other parts. I made use of the instances of the failure of those pipes from this forum to get my JLR tech to check it out. Turned out I got all new pipes under warranty. The kicker is, the supercharger has to come out to get to the lower pipe, pretty labor intensive.. While I never knew exactly how much was charged back to JLR, between the list of parts and the shop time, I 'm fairly sure it was way over where your warranty extension is being quoted. If coolant parts aren't an exception to the coverage, this may make a difference in your decision.

I bought one of the plans offered by Carmax, underwritten by CNA 60 months from purchase or 75k on the odometer. The car had 13k at purchase, approx $3500 for the plan. In December, Jaguar of Bedford did a wheel bearing and lower control arm, $2200 parts and labor, CNA paid the dealer labor rate. I paid for the alignment (not covered) and an update which fixed an intermittent high idle (software updates not covered). A couple other issues came back NPF..No problem found, unable to duplicate. Plus, I was on the hook far about 3 hours of diag. time. I expected that.
Most likely, all the concerns I had would have been covered by the Jaguar warranty you describe, maybe not the alignment.

And always remember that these quotes for dealer extended warranty are negotiable. When I purchased my 2016 a few years ago, the dealer had quoted around $3100 for the mileage/years I wanted and I think I ended up talking them down to just over $2K. Well worth it for me because I have the convertible. Those hydraulics in the top are expensive to fix. You can quote different jag dealers all around the country. It will cost you a little bit of time, but for me the savings was worth it.
We also just bought my husband a new Subaru last month and got their $2600 warranty quote down to $1875.

Given the record of reliability for the F-Type I'd keep the money and take the risk. We've all got our own spot where we're comfortable with cost versus risk. I threw caution to the four winds when I bought this car and don't regret it. If it had turned out poorly, it would have been painful.
