Sure. I like the additional space, cruisability and the ability to reach tuned 610 hp was what did it to me. Bit of a super sport limo feel but it’s worth it for the surprised looks I get when people hear it off the line. It’s faster than my V6, and still pops with stock exhaust. Nothing like the F type of course, but still! I loved the attention I got in the F Type but the XJ is still very much set up for the driver, plus 4 way ac and trays in the back etc.
here is mine. I found a 2012, with every factory option, for about less than a third of MSRP and 30k miles. (Plus warranty!)

The idea of a 16 year old having this car is, frankly, badass. In your lot, you'll see chargers or challengers or some debadged pretend m2, etc.... it's going to be so much fun for you. But how you got there is amazing! I know it's none of my beeswax, but I am floored! Congrats!

I'm 78, 79 in February, and on my second F-type. I bought an 2014 S convertible in July 2017 and my 2016 R convertible this past September. Before that I owned two MB SLK55 AMG's, a BMW Z4 M-Sport, two C6 Corvettes and two C5 Corvettes, all convertibles. The time span of these nine cars is twelve years, but most of that time I had two of them.

Gotcha. And I get the appeal. My folks have an older XJ8 and the thing is one of the most comfortable tanks I've ever driven. In terms of highway cruisers though, the Maserati Ghibli at like $45k plus factory extended warranty costs absolutely takes the cake for sub $50k land yacht.

Oh yes, I completely agree. My parents have both as well actually so have plenty of seat time. That being said, I would compare the Ghibli's ride quality to a BMW 5 series as opposed to a Jag although the Ghibli has some really terrible rebound issues during large steep compression. The Jaguar XJ lineup definitely places more emphasis on comfort than sportiness which in my opinion, is what the Ghibli is shooting for.

I'm 59.9 and my dear wife bought our 2016 S coupe (CPO) for me as a retirement present just over a year ago. It's a huge change from what I've had before and more fun than I ever imagined. Kudos to the many of you that prove there's no lower or upper limit to the age at which the F-Type can be driven and appreciated!

I would say autocross for the young lad could be some of the most informative and helpful lessons in understanding the tolerances and limits of the vehicle in a controlled setting.
But, I would say I am far more concerned about the off the lot chargers or challengers, corvettes, and mustangs, that come with an absolutely absurd & unnecessary amount of power.
At least the F-Type is a car that is nice enough you will probably worry about dings or wrecking it?

My parents did so well for themselves. They also made me cut lawns, do dishes, work illegally under 14, and because of them, I've had paying jobs since I was 14... I didn't get a nice Jag, but I did get the ethic to afford one. But jeez that took 25 years until I was almost 40 LOL!

Okay... so this board is awesome. Sure the F-Type is amazing, but to be 16 and own one is next world, and TO RETIRE AT 60? I know we're all probably not doing too poorly in our respective walks of life, but that's profoundly rare where I live. Lucky to like what I do.... but wow. Happy retirement! You earned it, and the vehicle! This board is something else.

All it takes is developing just one stupid assed app that appeals to one’s peer group, and you’re rolling in the dough. Try it some time.
Wishing the same good fortune to all teenagers. JUST GET YOUR BUTTS TO THE POLLS ON ELECTION DAY!
