Open Hood Sensor on 2017 F-Type R
Hi everyone,
So my "Open Hood" sensor has been coming on the past couple of months. I've been able to get it to turn off a couple of time by cleaning the hood latches and spraying compressed air into the actual connectors but now it won't go off. Any ideas on how to get the sensor to turn off? I'm thinking I may have to get the sensor replaced if I can't get it to turn off. Plus, I can't find anywhere on how where the sensor actually is, how to get to it and how to clean it if it's just dirty.

I had that problem that actually arose the day I picked up the car. Replacing a sensor fixed the problem and no recurrences.

I know your post was meant to be helpful, but saying a sensor was replaced doesn't help the OP, who asked where the sensor is (that he already knows is likely defective) and how to get to it.

See the attached PDF from the Workshop Manual.
It is the instructions for removal of a/the hood latch and it shows one or two electrical connectors need to be unplugged.
It doesn't say what those connectors are for but I'm betting that at least one of them is for the sensor in question, which suggests that sensor sits in that area.
It also looks like you need to remove the airbag and it's mechanism to access the connector(s) and/or the sensor.

I had this same problem on my 2020 R. It was under warranty so the fix was a dealer problem. If you are still under warranty I would suggest letting them resolve the issue. The repair was quick and I know it was done right. I know this does not address the “where is the sensor & how do I fix it”, but unless you like wrenching on this very complex car, it is the way to go.
