I absolutely hate the glossy bar that runs across the grill. A clean grill like the Project 7 is want I really want, but short of a custom fabrication, it's not possible.
As ridiculous as it sounds, it's the one reason that makes me think about getting another car.
Anyways, I'm going to stop by a wrap place Friday to see if there is anything less invasive they can do to make the front grill area look better. I think I can do 3 things:
1. Go carbon fiber. Since I already have the CF mirror covers, doing a CF wrap of all the black pieces + the grill bar kind of makes sense to complete the CF look. But it just seems like a CF wrapped bar would actually draw too much attention to the eye sore.
2. Go matte black. This seems like the best option. Make the bar less glossy. I've seen some photos of Teslas w/ a matte black nose cone, looks pretty good. Only problem I have with this is it won't match the rest of the black pack glossy black pieces. I suppose I could get all those pieces wrapped matte black as well...
3. Wrap it white. Seems like a white bar across the grill would look odd...but who knows...maybe it'll actually look good?

I considered this on mine, and after putting some CF up against the bar, it just didn't look right. Was too much CF when combined with the CF front splitter, plus it made the bar pop too much and that wasn't the look I wanted. If you want to disguise it, I'd say this would be the opposite direction to go.

Not seeing how this would help much. The grill pieces are glossy too so it blends into the background fairly well. I'd think the matte would make it stick out more.

I hadn't considered this, but it seems like an interesting option. To make it work I think you'd want the grill in white as well. Probably wouldn't want to do it with a wrap, but with paint or plasti-dip. Might be worth doing some photoshop experimentation.
Have you thought about buying all the parts from the Project 7 needed to change it?
not sure if this is possible, don't think the 7 is out in production yet. Plus the cost would probably be too much. I'm guessing a project 7 grill/nose would be something like $5-10k plus installation.

interesting...I wanted to avoid having to dissassembling the front grill, but I think you are right that a white grill with a white bar might actually look good. I'll see what those guys say regarding cost.

I imagine it would be. But that vs. buying a new car and loosing money in depreciation. I believe the vehicles have been built, so likely parts will be available soon.
I think you should get the dremel out and just remove that center bar... Post picts when you're done because I'd like to improve the grill area too!
You can't do that without cutting out a piece of the aluminum frame structure, which will leave you with a big ugly hole, and a whole bunch of other problems.
