Default Opportunity to upgrade to 770Watt System

I have a question for you all. I have the opportunity to upgrade my F type to the 770 Watt system, after working with my dealer on the base model problems.

The issue is that this lists for $1200 MSRP on Kelly's Blue Book in the States, and the dealer quoted me for the unit, parts and labor $1750.00.

What are you thoughts as to:

1. - The price
2. - The cost
3. - Should I just stick to the dynomat fix and grill cover replacement in the back, and spend a little to upgrade the speakers and call it a day. Would cost a hell of a lot less.

Thoughts?
Thanks a lot all

If it were me, I'd stick with the 380W system. Upgrading to the 770W probably won't fix the problems you're having, and you will be into it for $1750 plus the cost of the now worthless 380W system, plus the cost of the mods you were going to do anyway.

Unless there are features of the 770w you really want...

Don't have my car yet, but based on all I have read, I'd go with #3.

Yep. It may not be a scientific sample, but there have been far more complaints about the 770w system on this forum.

for 800$ you could get amazing sound from the 380. change the midrange in the door.....at dynomat....at a sub in the trunk..

Ok, went to the dealer today, and here is where I am at:

1. - the rattling in the "so called subs" was from the speaker grilles that were cracked, they replaced them.

2. - The door rattles are from the handles on the outside of the doors. The rattle is accentuated when the door handle is out (not locked), and not gone, but minimized when they are locked (closed and tight).

3. - they put dynomat in the doors, both of them, and a material difference, but not a fix!!! acceptable

4. - I opted not to spend a penny more on this stereo, stick to the current configuration, and add a few components to the car, i.e. a speaker in the dash, and possibly changing out the speakers in the doors, and adding a sub/amp combo in the trunk. this would cost me a hell of a lot less than what they wanted to charge me, and besides, I have the sub/amp in the garage from my last car, which is perfect.

5. Thanks for all of your inputs, you talked me off of the ledge.

Lastly, the service manager at my dealership is awesome, and did a wonderful job bridging me and JLR. Very impressed, and don't forget to go to the dealer for fixes, as they are the right course of action....vs. calling JLR for advice. They aren't paid to fix your car, and will not get it done like the service areas at the dealers.

Good Luck
