Default from order to delivery: Qs about process

Anyone know anything about these questions?

1. When does the dealer get a VIN? Number of weeks after order? % of total time from order to delivery?

2. Where in that process does the no-further-changes date typically fall?

Thanks.

1. The VIN is issued and available for the dealer to see right around the time the car goes into production.
2. The last change order date is typically 3-4 weeks after the official order date (when it is accepted into the system). All of this (except when the VIN is issued) should be on the system order sheet that your dealer can print out for you.

Thanks, lhoboy.

Do you know if the "system order sheet" is in any way an "in-house" document that a dealer might balk at giving to a customer?

Do you have an e-version of yours that you could post?

There is no reason they shouldn't share it with you. Here's another order sheet that has already been posted:

Also, once you have your confirmed dates, make sure you check-in often with the dealer. These dates change.

Because production on the 6sp V6S's moved up a few weeks, my "last change" date moved from 3 weeks away to the next day when I called.

Had me scrambling to make sure all the options listed were correct.

+1. Those dates are definitely a moving target (in both directions)
