At another level of ridiculous, the Ferrari Pista is an incredible car to drive. Fun, very fast and very well balanced! Great driver feedback. I drove my friends Huracan Performante… that is effin incredible as well! If you can get the opportunity… they are just so much fun! Performante exhaust noise is intoxicating!

To me, my past cars are like the ladies that have been in my life, I've loved almost all of them with only a couple being unforgetable for the wrong reasons. Surely one has to be my first car,(in 1964 I was 16) a 1957 Ford Victotria with a 312 T-Bird special engine. I had more horsepower than brains. Or my 1970 Sunbeam Alpine GT, my first brand new car. Of course most of them had let me down at least once, just like the ladies (see where I'm going with this?), but they usually were responding to the way I treated them. Some were dependable, some were not. But, I'm glad to have each and everyone of them in my life. My current love is with a Brittish lady named Molly (as in Malone) is a '98 black over silver xk8 convertable. And I know that she will challange me from time to time, but just like a female, she's worth it!

In 2014 I bought an 01 996 Twin Turbo. Loved that car-it was a 6spd and at that time had only 10k on the odometer. I put a full Kline exhaust and tuned it along with adjusting the waste gates. It was putting out around 550hp. Stock they were 415hp and 415 torque. I sold it 2 years later like a fool. I was BRIEFLY married to this woman and she would never drive in the car so it seemed to make no sense sitting there. I sold it for $50k and when I kicked her out and changed the locks-the car was worth $80k. I have no clue what it may be worth now.

I had a Datsun 200SX! Not nearly the same, but memories of learning stick on that car. And your anecdote is universal, which is the main reason for my reply. Serious nostalgia with that sentiment.

- '69 Chevelle, my first car, big and wallowy but classy lines and...hey it was my first
- 91 MR2 Turbo - my first mod car, light front-end, big laggy turbo, hilarious fun
- 97 M3 - one of my favorites, just an amazing all around drivers car, great balance of feel, handling, convenience, luxury, not best any any but terrific jack of all trades
- 73 Porsche 911s - the one I let get away, the stereotypical 'kicking myself for selling it'. Amazing character, and point-and-shoot handling, visceral experience, loved the smell of oil and gasoline that permeated the interior
- 2013 Scion FR-S - 'economy' sports car but really a great overall car, great steering feel, great shifter, great ergonomics, I could even fit my kids in the back when they were younger (we lovingly called it the "clown car"). Modded with track ready coilovers, headers, supercharger, etc. Lots of feedback, visceral feeling vs most modern cars, huge bang for the buck.
-2015 F-Type R - totally different car than any car I have owned before. Most luxurious, but an animal at the same time. Like a gorilla in a tuxedo. Handles like a true sports car, but almost has the feeling of a muscle car with the heavy steering, big hood, and soundtrack. Hands down louder and more obnoxious than any of my prior cars, modded or not (this one is VAP stage 3 with 200 cell cats). Love it!

Ahh, Fishbits, you often prompt engaging topics. Scrollling through other responses, trying to select a few to mention, I realized most of the fun ones have been Jaguars.
My original 1961 E type is top of the list, recalling top-off trips down PCH with the twin pipes roaring. Or Hwy 395 on the East side of the Sierras at 130mph. Sure I should have kept it, yet what did we know of future values. The then-current family value/need at least delivered an XJ6L to the driveway.
The Triumph TR6 had an electric overdrive on the top 3 gears, which made it perfect for a trip into the Alps after taking delivery in London.
A British national friend admired our Mk II RHD, stating "ah, that's the one the villains drive." It provided a perfect learning platform to teach my son how to shift a four speed, even progressing to his listening to the change in RPM's and shifting accordingly.
Two Fastback Mustangs graced my college years, with the GT390 taking me from Denver to Dallas in 12 hours.
And of course the F, providing thrills continually, and the AWD astonishing me on a regular basis. A year younger than your Dad, have you offered it to him to drive?

I've been freshening the "Bar of Soap"
It's a '91 NA/6, unmodified, and with the factory hard top. I just did brakes all 'round and am replacing the soft top next month. The rear window is a blackened, cracked mess from getting cooked through the hard top glass. I generally do everything myself but I'll be having the experts do the top. I expect it's the original. I pulled the AM/FM/Cassette player yesterday to clean it and add a resistor to "fix" a common problem where the radio won't turn on. The test was an old Deep Purple tape I dredged up from the depths. Coincidentally, it came up on "Woman from Tokyo."
I should say that it's not *completely* stock. It's got a few updates, all bolt on and easily reversible. It's got slightly upgraded sway bars and added front and rear braces. The braces are just a bar for each end that tie things together where the lower control arms pivot.
