MY18 is an improvement over MY15 but it's a really wide angle which means - even if the camera could be swapped - the infotainment unit wouldn't know where to put the yellow lines and the distance markings - plus the new touchscreen is a much higher resolution.
I like the wide lines representing the tyres and dotted yellow representing the outside of the vehicle.

The broken lines representing the mirrors' clearance on my FT are intermittent; they are there some times and not there other times, for no discernible rhyme or reason. I brought this up with the service adviser the last time I was at the dealers and he couldn't explain it although he was able to replicate it. Said he would investigate, but I haven't heard anything from him since.

If ever a thread existed that needs lots of photos it's this.
Realise it's an old thread that has just reawakened
but photo of the image that people think is poor or acceptable would add considerably to the discussion
Seems ok to me during daytime, image when it's dark could be a lot better

But it looks good and sounds great. Why JLR buys lesser quality equipment is the question. I can only presume it is to help the margin. A better camera would cost more money. True it would help sell more cars, but JLR must have crunched the numbers and concluded it comes out ahead with a smaller volume at a higher margin. It sure can’t be a matter of expertise, since reading this forum would provide the information.

Not sure if this helps but I have being trying to retrofit the JLR camera to my 2016 Coupe. My first attempt I managed to get a wiring loom and camera from a bumper off ebay. This was from a 2017 car. The camera and loom are different to that on my 2016 car. The difference primarily being the camera depth and the camera has two connections rather than 1. This is because the camera is a higher resolution on 2017/18 onward cars than the earlier models. So there is a better solution out there but you cant retrofit it.

Just 'upgraded' to a 2019 F-type R with the 10" infotainment screen -- had gotten used to the older/smaller screen in my previous 2016 and 2018. I'm less than a week into ownership and found a few times that when the sun is coming in the through the moonroof and angled on the 10" screen, the glare is horrible. So much so that I cannot even see anything in that reverse camera. I tried to brighten the screen settings but haven't had the same circumstance happen again. Anyone else find that the glare on this screen is worse than the previous model? Any fixes in the settings?

I know this is an old thread but I honestly was surprised that the backup camera in my '16 S literally had the same resolution quality as my moms old MDX from 2003. I mean it works, so I don't think too much about it, but jumping into my friends Tesla just makes me feel like I drive a car with 20 year old infotainment, lol.

yes, me too. I coated my garage floor so the cars have a darker colored pad to be parked on (the surrounding area is a different color and glows in the dark). It’s almost as if the camera can’t adjust quickly enough to my approach angle and although The image appears aligned with the parking pad, but the car isn’t straight when parked. I usually have the depth dialed in and I can pop the door to make sure I’m lined up on the sides. Like others, it works for what it needs to, but my 2008 G37 was better - sad. I like it straight because I am legit OCD, but I’m more particular about the cars that don’t get driven as much because I don’t want to walk out there and see then crooked.
