Default Overhead map lights not responding

I took down the map light overhead console down and after taking off the light cover and putting everything back together, now the light switches won’t respond. The 2 outer lights are on and the inside won’t turn on regardless of open/closing the door.

How does the touch sensitive lights work? Did I screw up the touch control somehow?

Don't you just touch the light to turn it on or off? They're independent of the door opening.

yes but touching it now doesn’t do anything, it’s not responding.

Try holding/touching the centre light for 2 to 3 seconds as this is the "reset to auto" procedure.

Did you perhaps take the overhead console out to get to a switched connection? If so, which one did you use? I am getting ready to do the same thing looking to direct wire my Uniden R7 radar detector.

I unplugged the light harness but will plug it back in today and give that a try again. The airbag light on the dash came on…. I’m guessing disconnecting that harness triggered that light.

I’ll report back in a bit.

Actually was looking to see what kind of LED was in there. I think others have tapped into the rear view mirror power for the radar detector power.

How is the battery? Low battery can cause a spurious airbag light. And could also be why interior lights don't turn on.

I tried disconnecting the battery, disconnecting the unit, touching the light for 3+ seconds, over night charging my battery which was pretty close to fully charged, clearing all fault codes and the light still stays on when the car is off but turns off while driving.

Instead of taking to the dealer I just purchased a used map light unit on eBay, swapped it and now everything works like it should. I think I might have messed up the power/touch sensors on the light when I removed it the first time.
