Unhingd, in the same boat interested in the P7 grill, not sure if I can receive PMs yet (new user, brand new owner) - but any help would be appreciated.
Hey guys, new user, I have had my F-type for about a year now and now that its in the shop seems like a perfectly good time to change the grille. If/when i am able to PM I am going to reach out to Unhingd and Meister Kajo. Hopefully you are able to help me out. Appreciate all of your work on this thread
So I'm having the P7 parts installed by a body shop, and they mentioned that they have to drill into a bumper to make the grille fit. Did everyone else have to do it? It won't show anything in the front because the surround will cover it up. Also, are there concerns that removing the foam in back will expose the internals to bad stuff? e.g. rocks

Reason: grammar
I don't recall having to drill, but what it appears they want to do shouldn't be a problem. Foam has to go, I don't think grill can fit with foam on.
Does anyone have photos or a graphic that shows the fasteners that need to be removed to get the front end off - I am planning to do my P7 grill in the spring and, although Im sure I can figure it out, I would be appreciative for any help getting up the learning curve. Thanks.
I do remember having to drill a hole to fit it to the bumper but it was totally out of sight. You should not have any issues removing the foam.
Awesome, now I feel like an *** for being so hard on the body shop ("please don't drill anything, it should just fit"). The second question to touch on is actually the consequences of removing the foam. I know you have to remove it, but does that expose alot of rocks and stuff to the engine bay/radiator etc
I have taken a long look time pondering how to install a tow hook with the P7 bumper and have found a machine shop that can carve an OEM hook (using the reverse threaded end )into accepting a billet track hook. If anyone has a spare OEM hook they can donate to the prototype project, please PM me.
Question:
having only center section (mesh) of P7 grill will it be possible to install it onto non-P7 surrounding frame (of course modified with blanked side holes)?

I can’t remember if the plastic tabs of the P7 grille will mate up with the OEM surround. That said, except for the bumper cutouts on each side, the two surrounds have the identical shape, so even though you might have to trim off some of the tabs, you should be able to quite easily bond the P7 Grille to the OEM surround. You’ll be filling in the surround cutouts anyway.
