P21A0 Fault (cylinder 5 air/fuel mixture)

![Question](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Had this on for 3 days, car ran pretty good. Then did a high speed run 90+ for about 20 minutes and fault went away (love italian tuneups). But now when cold, I am noticing misses and once warmed up the misses disappear.
Thinking I have 2 issues, clogged injector and weak or failing coil packs or plugs, car has 71k miles.
So this brings me to what I want to ask:
1) Anyone come up with a way to deflect water coming in from the hood vents away from the electricals. REALLY stupid engineering?
2) Has anyone tried the Ford coil packs, as they a lot cheaper than the jag version?
TIA
Randy

1) The engine cover was redesigned to eliminate any water ingress issue so you might consider one of these.
2) The engine in your car is NOT a Ford engine - it was designed and engineered by Jaguar, not Ford (but built under license in a separate facility in a Ford engine plant). You should stick to OEM service replacements or the exact equivalent.

Yeah, not sure I agree the engine cover displaces the water. Every time it rains and I am driving, the engine runs rough.
Also, did not say it was a Ford engine, only that it has Ford parts. Ford supplied parts to Jaguar up to 2018 I believe. Lots of small auto makers use parts from the big manufactures.

That deal expired in Dec 2020 and JLR then moved production of these engines to their new engine plant in Wolverhampton.
Since then and to this day AFAICT many parts were/are still made/supplied by Ford but without insider knowledge or a full teardown of a later engine we don't know how many or which exact parts. I suspect nothing changed after the move, ie all the parts that were previously made/supplied by Ford continued to be made/supplied by Ford.

Yes, but the coil packs for Ford engines may not be specified for the Jaguar engines - that, surely is the point? Yes, manufacturers do share parts. There are VW parts in Bentleys and Chrysler parts in Maseratis but unless you know that the part you want is identical, would you risk it? After all, the Jaguar engine and a Ford engine are not the same beast.

They are very different engines which to my knowledge share zero common parts.

I am talking coil packs (electronics) and I know they do share electrical parts, low volume manufactures are not going to go through the cost of development for every part. I have found the Ford coil pack design to be the same as the Jag design, going to try it and see.
Went through this with my DB9, AM just slapped their part nbr on a Ford part and tripled the price.
