Default P450 vs R

Has anyone had the opportunity to compare the new P450 R-Dynamic with the R?
Was a bit fixated on the R coupe but wondering now whether the P450 version fits the bill better at $20K less.
Is the only difference in engine tune and tire size, or is there more to it? And do they really handle differently?
Lastly, it would seem like the P450 should be easy to tune to R output once out of warranty.

You can get the P450 in RWD.

RWD is less money.
Is handling comparable to AWD in the dry?
Presumably the AWD is better in rain?

The AWD system in the F-Type is AWD-ish. It normally biases to 100% power to the real wheels and adds power to the front as things get interesting. I found that it didn't drive like any other AWD car I've driven. It's much more like a RWD car with traction aides. I've gotten the tail end to kick out on mine without driving aggressively on a cloverleaf in the cold. That was mainly due to the P-Zeros, but my S5 handled very differently when traction was compromised.

Sounds like you're underwhelmed by your P380? You can tune-and-pulley it to 450HP, though not everyone would want to do that while under warranty. I have the VAP tune in mine, and plan to install the pulley myself as reward for building my barn (whenever that happens.) 450HP, and a bit lighter than the V8, though I'm not unhappy with the current power output.

I was just thinking about this this morning, very curious about it. I was wondering if anyone's done this yet but I'm not seeing much on it at all, maybe because no one wants to buy one and then straight up abandon the factory warranty to do the tune...

I tuned it with VAP stage 1 (about 605HP) , no problem at all, the car now flies from 100 km/h to 200 km/h in about 7 seconds
I have the AWD version, the right choice for me. I totally agree with eeeeek, F-type AWD is like a RWD but with the plus that you can full throttle and the DSC never cut power to control the car. The AWD system acts before the DSC putting power in the front wheels.

Well this is good to know. Any idea if all the driveline components (or, anything that has to handle the extra torque from the tune) are identical in the P450 AWD and the R?

I don't think there is any economic convenience for differentiating the driveline components if you consider the same engine, supercharger, transmission. Always jaguar made different model version of the same engine, and always the driveline components were the same like f-type s and r for the V8 or like the base, S and the 400 hp for the V6. Anyway if there are some differences, the results in power of this tune IMO worth the risk ☺️
