Default Parking sensor

Is it normal that when I am driving the car and come to a red light the car goes into parking mode where as the sensors activate and if a car pulls up behind me the sensors go off?
Also if I am driving down a narrow street with parked vehicles and moving slowly (stop and go) due to traffic the same thing happens.
I never did get a manual for the car and when I do a search I am finding information on the system, but I am not finding what I need.
I can push the parking sensor button on the dash and that will disable the parking sensors, but the next time I stop the sensors reactivate.

What year and model do you have? Different MYs have different characteristics - my MY18 R doesn't behave the least bit like you describe.

I have mentioned a similar phenomenon in my 2021 F Type. It seems to happen mostly when I am on a street with an east-west direction and on sunny days and stopped at a light or stop sign. My theory is that the sun is bouncing off of cars in front of me or behind me and triggering the sensors. I don't recall it ever happening at night. The alarm will go off with vehicles that are as much as a car length away.
It can be annoying but I just tap the icon on the screen and shut the damn thing up for a moment.

The side sensors seem to work fine, at least I have never noticed them going off when unexpected.

I should have stated that I have a 2018 R coupe in case convertibles are different.
This car seems to have a few glitches in the electronics, nothing that truly bothers me. I am preparing a list so when I do take the car in for service the dealer can take care of the issues with the electronics while it is there.

Default Check your software

The MY2017s parking sensors would do their job, but not shut off, unless I pressed the button for Park Assist next to the InfoT screen. Dealer software upgrade cured it

The parking sensors (front and rear) in my MY18 coupe only come on when I select reverse, and they stay on until I drive forward over a specific speed (10 mph?) unless I manually cancel them.
