I traded in my F for this. Not for everybody but I LOVE it!

congrats. curious, the doors, do they require more room/space to open than conventional doors? and do you know how they compare to gullwing doors in terms of room/space for opening? On my bucket list is to get a car with unconventional doors. SLS is top of my list right now (looks like one can be had for around $130-$150, non black series). but I have major parking issues, thinking these doors might be a deal breaker until I resign myself to move out.

The doors actually take up lees room then the F type did. Now you have an overhead issue (maybe). I'm talking about if you extended the conventional doors out a ways. Now if you're used to barely opening a door and squeezing out, that is a different story. One way to solve that is the passenger gets out in the driveway and you park the car closer to what ever is there. Then the drivers door should have no problem.

As far as the prices you were looking at, you can get a 2012 12 C coupe for about $150,000. If it is out of warrantee you can purchase one from McLaren. There are cheaper aftermarket warrantees but they do NOT apply to California.

Good luck! Test drive one.

The one thing I like is that you see very few and I do think they are stunning. I drove the 458 and way preferred the McLaren. Also when the doors go up it is quite a site. You learn how to get in and out pretty quickly. It's pretty easy.

My brother's Exige is probably similar, entry/exit wise - pretty much like getting into/out of a bathtub!

Question: is the ride as good as they say? I haven't been in one.

To me, the driving experience was too much like that of a Porsche... what I mean by that isn't bad, just different. It feels "sterile" to me. ALmost like a surgeon with a fine precision instrument doing delicate surgery. The F-Type is more like a guy with a chain saw about to amputate an arm or leg. Both get the job done, one is just much more messy, (and probably) more fun.

That being said, as I've said before I cross shopped the McLaren before I picked up my F-Type. If I only wanted a weekend or Special events car, I would have taken the McLaren.

I don't think there are any leaves left in SoCal.

Your car is beautiful. I hope you put many happy miles on her.

I briefly considered a MP4-12C and a 650S.

It was very tempting. However, the deal breaker was the lack of places close to where I live capable of servicing a Mclaren.

I just do not want a car I have to drive or trailer out of town for service.

Especially for something that would be a garage queen.

If you are looking at pre owned exotic this is definitely in the mix, especially at $150k!
