The Vantage is a true masterpiece of design by Henrik Fisker. It's hard to impossible to improve on it.
I would say the same goes for the earliest F-types (2013-2015). But that is just my humble oppinion....

What I got is plenty good, but it is a long weekend, so I may go take a look.

Right around the corner? More like right around 1 left and 3 right corners. Only 2-3 minutes. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm currently cross-shopping the SVR, NSX and V12VS. These are really the only cars in the bracket that appeal to me.

Cost wise, these are all well beyond the maximum STL. (spousal tolerance level). The V6S came close to redline.

an you adopt me? Lol.. I too have the same spousal tolerance as Unhingd. I think my F-Type S was about the highest I can go at this time. I was originally looking at the R8, but couldn't get it into my allowance..Lol oh well.. Jag is sweet and good first car. (Always have had SUVs).

I currently have a previous gen R8. The new one is in Budget, I just think they look rubbish. Same with the GTS, 911 etc.

Cheers, she's served me well. I also had an slk55 as well until recently. That may well be the best car I've had.

V12VS manual would be brilliant if you can find one, unfortunately I think they are all sold.

I don't believe any Ss were manual, which suits me fine, because I'm THAT guy

That's right, they added the option eventually. Still, not for me

Dropped by the dealer today. The car was bought Thursday, and picked up Friday.

When I started to walk back to the Jag, the two salesmen that I had queried and a customer started grilling me as to why any sane person would think of trading in the F-Type for a GT350. "Not a chance, just interested in getting a closer look". They have another coming in at the end of next week.

Yeah, I know, but I could care less about things like "snob appeal" and what other people think. The prestige quotient of a car isn't important to me, and all I care about is performance and value.

Truth is, I wouldn't be happy without a convertible, and I've had at least one for 40 years. I'm also missing the MT more and more. I crossed-shopped the C7 very closely before purchasing the F-Type and was on the fence then. I'm going to take a look at this tomorrow. I feel myself possibly entering a Darth Vader phase . . .

I was about to say that if performance:value is what you are after, then a Z06 is pretty much your ideal car.

Yes, I had a C6 Z06 and loved it. But the C7 Z51 has nearly the same power as the C6 Z06 and weighs about 200 lbs. less than the C7 Z06. The Z51 is 400 lbs. lighter than my base F-Type.

It matches or betters the performance of the C6 Z06 w/ a better suspension, better transmission, and better tech.

You could always go Darth Vader on a '16 F-Type MT.

Or I could have 80-120 more HP (V6S vs. base) and 130 ft/lbs more torque and be 400 lbs. lighter for $20-30K less. I found a local, fully-loaded, convertible, Z51 CPO (exactly as pictured above) for an advertised price of $56K, 4K miles and includes 2 yrs of free maintenance, bumper-to-bumper warranty until 6/2019, and powertrain warranty to 2021.

As happy as I am for you that you now have a properly functioning MT, I'm not convinced it's stout enough for spirited driving over the long-run.
